  1. Navarrabrooke: The only thing I would suggest with a 5pm ceremony is make sure you take your beach pictures before hand. The sun does goes down fairly early and it takes a while for the whole picture taking process, so I hear. We are doing a cocktail hour. Our ceremony is at 4 and Perla said, it takes about 30 minutes. Our cocktail hour is from 5 to 6, which I'm sure will start a little early, and then the 4 hour reception. We were considering having a 2 hour beach party to follow, but there is no need. The hotel is all inclusive and the lobby bar and club should be open. So we'll just move the crew along!
  2. As of today, we have 52 booked! So excited! Yolyd75.... such a small world, unbelievable. It doesn't look like we'll get to run into one another down there. Just gonna miss you. ktchi.... We were going to do a room block as well, because at the time it seemed that it was going to save our guests money as well, but since then..... the prices have literally dropped out! I'm so glad that we chose not to do so A) because of the drastic price change and because it gave us the peace of mind not having to lay out all that money. People can be very unpredictable when it comes to international travel! Expecially with all the nonsense that's been swarming around poor unfortunate Mexico. We provided our guests with the name and contact of the travel agent we were using and gave them the option of booking through our company, a company or their own or just using the internet. To be honest with you, the people that have ended up making out the best on the trip, are the ones that waited until now and are using the internet. As for Perla, she's extremely backed up lately, feel your pain! Invest in a calling card and give her a buzz. I find that 3 times out of 5 I can get her on the phone and she's very helpful.
  3. NAVARRABROOKE, we are doing a sit down dinner with 3 courses and the cake. We're arriving on 11-1 and leaving on 11-11 so you'll be getting there on our last day I'm going to be soooo jealous of you! YOLYD75, I live in woodrow! I'm a native Staten Islander, how about you? MISSYR, I also am having difficulty down loading the sand ceremony and would love to see it! If you could possibly PM me, it's [email protected].... Thanks so much in advance!
  4. Hi Girls, I'm not on all that often, but now that we're getting pretty close to our date, I would really like to get reinvloved! FINZUP... How many people are you having? We are expecting 60 so we were advised to do everything a la carte rather than a package. It's a bit pricier, but we're getting EVERYTHING we want and it's kind of nice to make it our own. We went down and did a food tasting after choosing from ALL of the banquet menu's and ended up picking a main entree that wasn't even there. NAVARRABROOKE You're actually getting married the week right after us! We went down and did a site visit that exact week last year to see what the weather and hours would be like. You lose sunlight early in November so we're starting our ceremony at 4:00. Perla said this would provide us with just enough time for beach photos and it will be a little cooler out. If you have any questions, let me know, and I'll see you down there!
  5. Hi Ladies, I don't get a chance to get on much, but I do read all the posts via email. You all do post some great info, and I love it. I was wondering if any of the brides who've already been married at PRC used the in house photographer, and if so, have you posted your pictures? John and I are using their photgrapher, and I just want to be sure we're making the right decision, especially after viewing all of the wonderful slide shows from other photographers. Thanks for the help!
  6. Meredith, I am also using Carlos, I can see that this is the growing trend, probably because Swank is so ridiculously expensive! I don't know if you've signed any contracts or anything like that, but Swank tried to charge us 25% of the original quoted invoice, which was just an inquiry as to his prices, because we chose to use an outside vendor. There was never a formal agreement between Swank and John and I so we knew this was just a sad attempt to rip us off, but it caused conflict between Swank, Perla, and us and the final agreed price for us to use an outside DJ was 460. Im just letting you know what happened with us incase they try to pull the same &^*! with you! Sam
  7. Thanks Becks! We just sent him the deposit and I was a little nervous. We were having some problems with SWANK and wanted to find someone better to suit our needs, so thanks again for the reassurance, music is so important to us. HOOSIERFAN, I'm planning on having 80 guests or so, so I can relate to the large group. We have to do everything a la carte so to say, the packages are made for groups over 40, but its working out okay. Perla will work with you on everyhting you need. If your looking to have your wedding outside on the Tequilla Grill it holds up to 150 she said and you always have the beach. Good luck!
  8. I have about ten people booked, a lot more to go. The clors I chose are yellow and gold. We're having yellow BM dresses, floor length chiffon, and yellow floral arrangements. High yellow orchid CP's with gold accents, like table chargers and possibly the tiffany chairs. We're also planning on having the classical three peice band play for the ceremony and the steel drummer for the cocktail hour. Anyone hear anything about these guys? When we were down there we got to hear the guitarist play the ceremony, but unfortunately that was it. Oh and John's favorite part, a cigar rolling station. It's all so expensive, but we figure we're only gonna do it once right?? Has anyone used mannia as their DJ company or heard anything about them?? Sorry if these are redundant questions, but I'm new to the site and still getting familiar with it. Thanks! Sam
  9. Hello everyone! I'm having my wedding at the Paradisus on November 7, 2009. I'm really excited about it. I did a trial run this past November and had a wonderful experience. We met wih Perla first hand and she was wonderful Has anyone had any dealings with the in house DJ there? I'm wondering how your experience has been with him. I find that the DJ issue is becoming the most annoying part of planning so far. Any imput?
