  1. Thanks for the great review. You must be thrilled that everything went so well for you. Congrats Mrs!

Just peel it away and he the good stuff. :-) As for flowers, I'm not a big fan. I had my bouquet made out of buttons, my bridesmaids carried parasols and the boutonnieres were made of feathers. If you want flowers I would find a picture of what you want and send it to your WC to see if it is possible to make there and what the extra cost might be, if any. The pictures that they have of flowers are quite outdated and IMO a little lackluster. The only things I brought with me were hand fans and candy favours. All the other things were provided by the resort (chair sashes, flower petals, candles etc.) Now for the ceremony. I'm pretty sure it was about 15 minutes long including signing everything. It wasn't really personal and there weren't an vows. The judge read a story about what marriage should be like, we put rings on and said "I do", signed and thumb printed, and it was done. I did bring my own written ceremony with me but Karla said what the judge had was really pretty so we went with that. I advise you to write your own and send it to your WC before hand so they can pass it along to the judge. You might even need to have it translated to spanish first. Phew that was long winded. Hope I answered your questions. If you have any more just holla. Hi Kiera! Welcome home. Great pictures and it sounds like everything went great - minus the fall maybe. What kind of candles did they have? Like little tea lights or something? Did they rent them to you? That's the only question I have for now. Jennie

  4. Raykel - you should call the front desk of the resort and ask for her, they'll put you through to her. That's not fair at all. I hope it works out for you.

  6. Hi guys! We were given the tequila and the gran tortuga as our options for the tulum side. Has anyone had their hair done at the spa lately? I was thinking I'd just get one of my BMs to help me but now I'm thinking I'd like to go there to get it done. I'm a bit nervous about it though....do you think if I have some good pics I'll be ok? Does anyone remember the name of the stylist that they were happy with? On the photographer note - I'm bringing a photographer from home and he's staying the week with his wife so he's a guest so it's a non-issue. For any of you who still have time to do this, I totally recommend it. To save on costs, you could try and find someone who's just starting out and wants a DW as part of their portfolio. Happy planning everyone!

  9. I'll have pink, ivory and cantaloup colored paper lanterns if you'd like to buy them after I use them in February....

We're there until the 20th so we may see you! Jazmin has been phenomenal and is letting me chose and book everything now. She's away until Oct 1 but you should contact her when she's back.

I assume you're staying a second week? We're doing that too. I think that's a great price. I'd love to do the whole dinner outside but I think the drinks and dancing will be fine. Where are you having your dinner at? Are you going to get your hair & make up done at the spa?
  12. Hi guys!! I'm finally officially booked for Feb 9, 2010 at Tulum and I'm SO excited!! We stayed there back in 08 and absolutely looooved the resort. Jazmin has been great to work with. Our plan is to have the ceremony at the Tulum beach location, the dinner at the Tequila, a dance by the pool with a dj and then we're off to the Hacienda and the disco!! Has anyone eaten at the Tequila? What was it like? I'm not sure what to do about speeches - at the dinner or the reception? I also want to take paper lanterns for the reception/dance but I have no idea how many to take - any recommendations? Any advice would be great but I have gone through this AMAZING thread and have already learned so much thanks to all of you. Jennie

They were pretty firm about sticking to your own resort for the wedding dinner, but i think during your general stay you can move around. I'm trying to clarify the per person cost too of the poolside reception with Jazmine. Let me know what you find out! Thank you Joss! We're hoping for Feb 9th but have the 10th booked right now. Just waiting on confirmation for the 9th. Yeah, you're right setting the 'mood' ourselves!! Do you know if there's outdoor seating at the Gran Tortuga? Did you pick your menu yet? She told me that it was $9 for 2 hrs and that included margaritas, pina coladas, sparkling wine & beer. And then she said $50 pp for a buffet... Jazmine's been great so far though! Pretty quick to respond.
