  1. Hey Llama - our group few out from Regina, Winnipeg, Toronto and Edmonton and we ended up paying about $1900-$2150 each, which was apparently a good deal!! On the other hand, the resort and wedding coordinator Diana were excellent and we had an amazing wedding there! One thing to check out is pricing for the GrandRiviera Princess - its the same resort as the princess - shares pools, restaurants, wedding sites etc - I think the only difference is that the Riviera side is a couple years older. Wedding packages are a bit pricey at this resort and I heard that they went up for 2009! Good luck and happy planning!
  2. Hey Valerie - I didnt' have to meet with the restaurant people before, but we didnt' have a U shape at our dinner - I'm sure though if you ask the wedding coordinator at the hotel when you get there, it wont' be a problem At the a la cartes, my understanding is you have to pick a set menu for the whole group - that's why I did the Mexican, b/c I had beef, chicken and shrimp -that way everyone was happy! The table decorations were the ones off the gazebo, which were beautiful! As for my hair - I am pretty lucky that my sister is a hairdresser, so I can't tell you about the hotel salon, but I've read other reviews that have said that they did a good job Hope that helps - the on-site wedding coordinators there are so great, you wont' have to worry about a thing!
  3. Hey colleen - Thanks! - I did my own makeup that day ( I actually went to a MAC counter the week before and got them to show me a few looks and teach me to do it myself)
  4. Roxyk05 - thanks - it was wonderful and I wouldn't change a thing! The menu part stressed me out a bit as well!! We picked the Hacienda in the end as we could get the fajitas with chicken, beef and shrimp - so that people who didn't like fish or didn't eat beef or whatever the situation was could still enjoy their supper! It turned out to be a hit and there was so much food and it was all so good! Personally, we tried the Seafood and MISO a la cartes, and I think the consensus of the group (who tried all the a la cartes in the end) was that the Hacienda and the Fondue were the two best ones - the thing with Fondue though is that its a very slow process Seafood was probably my least favourite - I didn't eat the salmon, but I heard that was good though! At MISO, the turkey dish of all things seemed to be the favourite One other thing we were worried about with the a la carte was that it wouldn't be private - but they put us in the back away from everyone so we did have privacy for the group which was so nice! Hope this helps!!!
  5. Hello PrincessVal So I was also told that all the white fabric, etc was not included and we had opted against doing it for that reason - to our suprise when we arrived there, our on-site coordinator Diana told us it was standard and we didnt' pay anything. As for picking and confirming all the details - I had done it beforehand, but they make you pick it all out again when you get there anyways, so I wouldn't worry about it - you dont even see Damarys or speak to her once you get there - so by not responding she causes us brides some unnecessary stress Don't worry, you're wedding will be perfect! PIcs are on their way!
  6. Hey there nscheatham! I picked the BASIC renewal of vows package and we did the legal part back here in Canada as there are just a bunch of pesky things that you need to get done to have it legally in Mexico - the thing is they do the vow renewal ceremony exactly as a marriage ceremony - the exchange of vows, rings, "I dos" and the kiss at the end - we even got a marriage certificate at the end of it - though its not legally binding, it was really nice to have it that way since we didn't take the legal ceremony back here in Canada to mean much to us other than it was a legality I'm sending pics shortly - let me know if you have any other questions! Tina
  7. Hey everyone!! Just wanted to give you a rundown on the wedding - absolutely wonderful!! I was worried beforehand with some of the negative reviews on the resort itself, but we had no problems and our group of 27 had a wonderful time! Diana was our coordinator (Sunset side) and was so helpful! We got married at the gazebo, and the standard decorations were gorgeous with the flowers and white tulling. All the bouquets were gorgeous and I was able to change the colour ribbon for each of the bouquets since all the bridesmaids were a different colour! They have a CD player and speakers for when you walk down the aisle which is loud enough for everyone to hear. As well there is a microphone that is used during the ceremony so all the guests can hear! After the ceremony we had dinner at La Hacienda (Mexican) and the food was wonderful and the staff did an excellent job -it couldn't have been better! The sunset lobby was so busy after dinner (8pm) that we decided that we didnt' want to do our dance in front of the couple hundred people in the area - a little shy perhaps After the dinner, we went up to the lobby bar where we pulled enough table and chairs together, and Anthony took care of us the whole night - a wonderful man! We also managed to do a bouquet toss there an everyone had a wonderful time. Originally, we had booked the private reception, but decided against it in the end - and we're glad we did - we had just as much fun on our own! The wedding ended up being $870USD (we paid $10/pp extra for the dinner over 20ppl) Plus, it gets chilly at night and most of us moved into the Sports Bar and then Disco when the temps started to drop! Its totally personal preference though, and I am sure that the private reception would be beautiful as well! That's all I have - I have a few pics if anyone wants, I can email them of the gazebo, flowers, etc. No worries about your weddings everyone - its absolutely perfect and all taken care of when you get there!
  8. Sam and Ashleigh!! Sorry for the delay - I was out of town the past couple days! I sent you the emails with the pics today! Let me know if you didn't get them! Tina
  9. Hey Sam! I tried again so hopefully that worked! Anyways, they asked for payment in full, but then we agreed to pay half now and the rest 30 days before - I hope the cdn dollar starts picking up! Happy planning Sam and let me know if I can be anymore help!! PS - fill me in on the details when you have time
  10. Hey Sam! I sent some info to your email for you - I found some pics of the beach reception on tripadvisor, but so far that's all I've been able to find! Happy planning!
  11. Hey ladies, Just wondering if anyone here has had issues with GSP changing their deposit policy - we booked the private reception and a few xtras a few months ago and paid the $200US Deposit and the rest to be due 30 days prior and then all the sudden I got an email from Damarys last week saying the beach party had to be paid in full immediately or they could book someone else instead!!! This wouldn't be so bad if the Canadian dollar wasn't so brutal right now Also, does anyone know what they provide for decoration on the tables, etc - if anything?? Thanks so much! Tina
  12. I would love to see the pics as well!! Please email to tinaczarnecki@hotmail.com I can't wait to see them! Thanks Tina
  13. Hey Everyone! We have booked a civil ceremony (we're getting officially married just before we get there) for February 3, 2009 at GSP! Has anyone had the private beach party / reception - and if so, do you have pictures or reviews?? Is it worth it? As well, I have the bouquet options from Damarys, but I am looking for something different (the bridesmaids are each in a different colours, and I want to incorporate that) - any florist recommendations?? Finally - any thoughts on the photographer that they use?? Thank you very much! Tina
