I noticed some of you mentioned a free dinner at one of the restaurants and a reception else where? Also, for the open bar,is the price per hour or a flat fee for each guest? Any info you have on this would be EXTREMELY helpful! Thanks ladies!! Hi Crystal, The open bar ranges-depending if you want domestic, international or premium. The least expensive option is 15$ per person per hour which comes out pretty pricey. You can speak to your coordinator about how you can make this cost less expensive by either having your reception near a bar where your guest can just walk over and grab a drink (since it's all inclusive) or you can have the wine and beer added into your reception menu for a minimal fee.
  2. Hi Girls! Actually Sandra has these disappearing acts quiet often. I don't think they cover each other when they are gone. Once Sandra was out for like 3 weeks and I went over a month without a response. I had to get bridezillaish and call to speak to a manager. It worked..and I got an answer soon after. Either way-patience is the key!! I also considered doing the dinner and then a private reception-it would save a TON of money but I think it would be too much moving around for my guests..I'm having around 60-65. I have heard that they do a great job of blocking off the restaurant and decorating the tables. As for us-we are doing the ceremony at the gazebo, cocktail hour near one of the bars and the reception at the parrot bar. Here's a link that Sandra sent me that should be really helpful to all you girls planning. Picasa Web Albums - Weddingbymajestic... It has pics of all the ceremony/reception spots as well as sample bouquets, centerpieces etc etc Also-regarding anyone looking for an outside photographer, but doesnt want to spend a fortune on travel expenses..I am using a photographer from a nearby town. His name is david and his email address is: davidfotocolor@gmail.com He is so reasonable and gave me a great deal on photos and video. He did my friends wedding and everything came out really nice. I'll keep you guys posted! 3 more weeks and it'll be official! Can't wait to post my review and the pics!!! Good luck girls!

  10. So I did not read all of the posts on this thread, however I did read the story about the e-ring being stolen on another site. While there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for anyone stealing anything from a hotel room-the truth is that noone should ever leave anything in ANY hotel safe. I have a friend who worked at one of the most prestigious hotels in NYC and always told me you NEVER EVER leave anything in the safe. The hotel has access to these safes, and there are staff members who will steal and never get caught. It is unfortunate since this is supposed to be "safe" place for your valuables. I travel often, and have been to DR numerous times and have never and will never leave anything in the safe. I rather hide my things in my luggage and put a lock on it. It's a lot more difficult for someone to break your lock than to just open up a safe they have access to. Another good trick is to not have them clean your room every day-put the do not disturb sign up..and leave the TV on so it sounds as if someone is in the room. When you do need clean towels, they will provide them for your without having to clean your room. Every two days or so, I allow them to clean-WHILE I AM THERE. You must take all precautions to avoid things like this. That goes for any place you travel-not just DR, or Mexico or anywhere else where the people are less fortunate. I truly feel for the girl who lost her ring- I can not even begin to imagine her pain..and I know that even if she does end up purchasing another ring, it will not replace the sentimental value of the original. But we must all take this as a lesson learned-never leave anything in the hotel safe! PS-Tara-I am also getting married at the Elegance!
