  1. I posted a couple threads today on this board and now they are gone...any ideas as to where they might have gone. One was a review of Excellence and the other was a thread for a link to our wedding pics. Why would someone remove the posts?
  2. My dad did our photographs but we hired photosouvenir to do the wedding video since my mom wasn't able to come. She fell and broke her hip the day before we were leaving. They really did a nice job with the video editing. The pictures I saw were also very nice from previous weddings. The photographers are wonderful to work with.
  3. mich&adam, We just had our wedding at Excellence last week. We had the Excellence Wedding package because we didn't need all the other amenities offered with the other packages. As far as the dinner options with the other packages they will set you up just about anywhere you want at the resort. While we were there, one bride and groom had their reception dinner in a private room and another one had theirs outdoors in the Plaza (it was obviously a larger wedding). We were completely happy with what we chose, it was perfect for us. Our dinner was at Spice (the Asian restaurant) and they had the table decorated nicely for us. The only thing I would change is the pre-wedding communication. I'm not sure if that is just how things work there, or the circumstances while we were there (Ana was out sick for the week). It would have been nice for us to know more before we arrived than what we did. But all in all it was a wonderful day and it turned out perfect. Let me know if you have any questions at all, I will try to post a link to some pictures soon!
  4. Hello everyone! Hope the planning is going great for everyone! My husband and I just returned from Excellence Punta Cana a few days ago and I thought I'd share our experience with all of you. The ride to the resort is long, about an hour and you definitely get to see the true Dominican village life. The roads were rough, about what we expected. There are a lot of close encounters with other buses and motorcycles. Be prepared to see families of 4-5 on one bike The resort is very nice. We stayed in the Excellence Club with an ocean view room. To be honest there isn't really a difference in rooms with the excellence club versus those that do not have it. The mini bar is better and they stock it daily. Plus you have access to their club area with a couple computers, daily buffet for breakfast and lunch. The rooms are a decent size with a jacuzzi tub, king size bed, ours had a balcony, the ground level rooms had a hammock and a lot of the ground level rooms had access to the lazy river pool just a few feet from their backdoor. The staff is extremely wonderful and will take care of any of your needs. We did tip a lot even though it is said you don't have to. We mainly tipped bartenders, pool boys, bell hops, drivers, and housekeeping. They were all very appreciative. They will exchange for American money at the front desk or at the excellence club if you need to break bills into smaller ones. As far as food, Toscana is the place to go for breakfast and lunch. The buffet is huge and if you can't find something to eat in there then you have problems. We didn't go to any of the other restaurants for lunch. Mainly we stayed by the pool and they bring around pizzas in the afternoon. We had dinner at The Grill, Lobster House , Agave, Chez Isabelle, Barcelona and our reception dinner was at Spice. All restaurants were pretty decent. All in all the food is decent and they have a good variety on all the menus. They do a really nice job with service and especially presentation. Our favorites were Spice, Agave, and Chez Isabelle. The entertainment is good. The sax player Domingo is really really good and a very nice man. They have nightly shows at 10:00 anywhere from Dominican dancing, Impersonators, Michael Jackson night, and Circus Show. We also went to the Disco Alegria for one night for 70/80s night. They have all sorts of stuff running throughout the day so there is plenty for everyone to do. We just sat by the pool/beach and we were content. There are also a lot of excursions from Zip Line, ATVs, horseback riding, and a boat trip to Sanoa Island, which is the one we did. The Sanoa island trip was good but be prepared for a long day 8-6. It's good to get outside of the resort for the day and get to see other parts of the country. The wedding was good, everything we wanted. I will say the there was little to no communication prior to the wedding which was concerning to me. Even after we arrived at the resort we had not been contacted by the wedding department to greet us and to arrange a time to sit down to speak to us. We went to the Excellence Club concierge for 2 days in row before we finally met with someone which was Lisbeth. Turned out that Ana Luisa was sick and out for the week we were there, which explained a part of the lack of communication. The pre-wedding consultation took about 30 minutes and we decided everything from venue to flowers to cakes...etc. They will ask for your dress/tux/documentation at that time so take it with you in order to save you a trip. Like I said before we were happy with everything. I got ready in the spa and a horse and carriage took me to the wedding site where everyone was waiting. The ceremony was about 10 minutes with translation and my husband and I had cake (which was delicious) and champagne after the ceremony. The rest of our cake was taken to the dinner reception at the restaurant to share with everyone. I really didn't have to worry about anybody but myself because I knew everything was being taken care of. We had a wonderful time and we are already planning on returning possibly next year for our anniversary. It is really a wonderful resort and I would recommend it if you are considering getting married there. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at all. I will try to see if I can post some pictures! All the best! Mrs. Erin Nesbitt Here is a link to some of our pictures from our wedding at Excellence Punta Cana. Hope you enjoy! 5. Hello Ladies! I have a few questions for you all about your experience with the wedding department at Excellence. As you know, I am getting married in less than a month (yay!!) It was recommended to me by someone on this forum to make spa appointments (hair, makeup) prior to arriving at the resort. When I called today, I spoke with Rosa who told me that I should wait and do that when I arrive at the resort and to not worry about it. Were any of you July brides able to make spa appointments or restaurant reservations in advance? I have also had zero communication with the department about our planning. Granted our ceremony is the basic one and we have very few guests. However, I had no clue until today who our wedding coordinator was, which Rosa said to me "I think it's Ana". It would be really helpful to me if I knew a timeline of what we need to discuss before we get down there and what will be taken care of when we arrive. I tried asking Rosa questions but she told me to email my questions to Ana, who I don't know how to personally get in contact. I've heard of all these great conversations you guys have had with the ladies in the wedding department at Excellence. I know they do not get back to you at light speed at all but it seems when I call, nobody answers or when I email I don't get a response or it is vague. Oh i forgot to ask this today.....Did any of you have to fax your translated paperwork from WEDO to the resort? I read on the WEDO website that some resorts require that but I didn't have a chance to ask that to Rosa today when we spoke. I know I'm sounding negative. But like most of you, I want to be on the beach with drinks in hand, not spend all my days prior to the wedding, preparing for it. I'm sure it will all come together in the end and I'm worrying over nothing....I usually do!! Last, did some of you have links to flowers/cakes....I'd like to know before hand what they have to offer rather than trying to wing it when I get down there.
  6. Hello EPC brides! I'm Erin and from San Antonio, TX and I will be getting married on June 10th 2009. We were trying to decide b/w Excellence and Paradisus and the whole adults only thing is really what sold us. I do have one concern about the wedding at Excellence. I emailed the wedding coordinator to ask if there was anything that we could be doing or needed to talk about. This was about a month ago. She told me no and said that she would be in touch with me when the time got closer to our date. Well the wedding is just over 2 months away and we haven't even discussed one thing! Is this normal? For those of you who have plans underway already, when is your wedding and how soon did you start discussing those decisions with the WC? I'm just starting to get a little concerned. Hope all of you are enjoying your planning. I'm in planning mode for the at home reception in Illinois (my home state) and my mother is stressing me out. I'm sure many of you can relate!! All the best!
  7. Hello Ladies, I am now officially an Excellence Punta Cana Bride. We made our deposit on the trip this week. The wedding will be June 10th. If there are any others of you on here getting married at Excellence let me know. Hope everyone's planning is going well!
  8. Hello Everyone! Hope everyone is doing well with their wedding plans! My fiance and I are getting ready to book our resort for out destination wedding in the DR and are looking at Excellence and Paradisus Punta Cana. I've heard good things about both but wanted to hear from people who have dealt with or are currently dealing with these resorts. Our travel agent has experience with Paradisus but doesn't know much about Excellence. Both resorts seem pretty similar in what they have to offer the only big difference is that Excellence is adults only which is nice but isn't necessarily a must have for our destination wedding. Any information you all have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks and have a great weekend!!
  9. Thanks for all the nice messages! Hope everyone's planning is going well. I'm so thankful I found this forum! Best wishes to you all!
