  1. Red Shoe Boudoir in Houston is offering a special on Livingsocial.com for a 2 hour on location Boudoir session with 40 retouched and airbrushed proofs. The regular price is $200. It is today's daily deal so it will be over by the end of the day. If you don't know what Living Social is, it's like Groupon. If you don't know what Groupon is, what rock are you living under? I don't know anything about Red Shoe Boudoir but her website is redshoeboudoir.com. I just saw this deal on Living Social and thought that some of you ladies could use the info.
  2. I've been away from the forums for so long.... I'm 3 weeks away from my wedding and can't wait to be in Negril!
  3. Just wanted to chime in that the Moon Dance resorts are both gorgeous and will be the perfect setting for a wedding your guests will never forget! I'm getting married at Moon Dance Villas in 3 weeks.... CAN'T WAIT!
  4. Lauren- Your review is great! It sounds like you had a FABULOUS dream wedding! Congrats and welcome back home!
  5. My FI is staying with his brother the night before. The day of the wedding, we are having a bridesmaid brunch by the pool at my villa and FI and all his groomsmen are going to the sports bar at the sister resort to smoke cigars, practice putting on the putting green, and watch Sports Center. The first time he sees me will be walking down the aisle. I figure that we'll be together in Jamaica for 7 days and then we will have another 7 days on our honeymoon, so one night without him will be ok. So much of what we are doing is non-traditional, that I think throwing this in there will be good for building up the excitement of the day.
  6. Luckily for me, all of my guests have to book their stay through our wedding coordinator. We have booked villas and there is no other way to stay at the resort since we have the whole thing reserved. All of the villas are full now, so no one else can RSVP anymore. I figure if it was important to them, they would have booked already. I only sent response cards with our invitations because it's the traditional thing to do, and a bunch of my mom's friends who won't be coming will want to write nice notes on the back with their regrets. :-)
  7. That was really nice of him to send you that reassurance! In the year and a half since we decided on the Moon Dance resort(s) to facilitate our wedding they have been incredibly accomodating. And I can telll you that they are just as friendly and helpful in person. When we went for a site visit last year, the people at Moon Dance (Cliffs and Villas) were the nicest of everyone at all of the resorts we visited. They went the extra mile to make sure we would be able to get everything we wanted - including a crazy request from my FI. Like I said before, one bad review shouldn't get anyone too worried... I, for one, can't wait to get back there!
  8. I wouldn't worry TOO much about it. One of the things that stuck out in her review to me is that she was concerned about the food choices for children under the age of 6 not being available. Moon Dance Cliffs is very clear on their policy for children under the age of 13 not being allowed on property. After having been there last year, the reason for this is clear to me - it would be SO easy for a kid to wander over by the cliffs and fall in, there is no safety railing. I can't understand why she would have young children there when it is so potentially dangerous and why they allowed her to do so. Of course they don't have a kids menu - kids aren't supposed to be there! My assumption is that if she's willing to neglect that detail, there may also be many other details she didn't mention in her review that may explain her other complaints. (Except the jacuzzis - which from my understanding have been an issue since the beginning. They didn't work when we were there, but it was the weekend before their grand opening... i assumed they would be working by now.) She may have some valid complaints, I'm just saying that I wouldn't put too much stock in one review by one person. Let us know what Kerry and Linus say!
  9. My mom is a total "Miss Manners" and she's always telling me the "right thing" to do. She says that ettiquette dictates that you still send the invitation because it lets them know that they are important to you.
  10. My advice is not to stress too much. Both time slots have advantages and disadvantages. If you try to pick "perfectly" and then something doesn't go as planned, it will be easier to get upset about it. The great thing about Jamaica is the "No problem, mon" attitude. I'm letting that be my mantra for planning the wedding. If you choose the later time and you only have enough sunlight to get 50 pictures with your groom instead of 70, will it really be that big of a deal? If you choose the earlier time and you have 1 less hour to get ready, don't think of it as less time to get ready... think of it as 1 less hour to stress out. Either time will work out well for you - and there is no perfect answer. So don't think of it as getting it right or wrong. Just go with the one that you feel slightly more inclined towards, and then let it go. :-) You'll have a great time!
  11. Oh, I forgot to add that because Negril is on the west side of the island, the sun sets on the water. (That's why we chose Negril to get married in!) You'll get some GREAT pictures!!
