  1. Don't worry you'll have lots of time. I arrived on Saturday last year and got married on Tuesday. They do say you should arrive 2 business days before but that's not set in stone. Everything worked out perfect for us. I brought everything to the WC's office in a suitcase and gave her directions on how I wanted everything to look and she did a fantastic job. Have fun!
  2. Hi, I got married at the RIU Ocho Rios and it was also 3 guys playing the steel drums. No other instruments. I had them pay throughout the ceremony and cocktails. It was beautiful. J
  3. Hi There, We had our dinner at Mammee Bay at 6:30 and then at 9:30 we rented the disco for a private party. It's $200 for 2 hours. The DJ is included as well as a bartender. We had a blast. We did the traditional first dances and then everyone partied. I would recommend this option for sure. J
  4. Hi, I got married at the ROR 6 months ago and I had the tropical cascading bouquet. I absolutely loved it. It was bright and colorful on pictures. I wouldn't change my bouquet choice at all. It was beautiful.
  5. We also hired the Steel Drum Band for an hour for $350. I definately would recommend it. They were awesome and provided a very tropical atmosphere. They played for a full hour.
  6. HI, I had 34 guests at my wedding. We had dinner at Mammee Bay, which was awesome and then we booked the Disco for a private party. The DJ and bartender are included and the cost is $250. We had a GREAT time. I would recommend this option for sure. J
  7. Hi, We got married Feb 24, 2009. We paid everything by visa except the photoshop (we paid for our pictures by travellers cheques). They accept cash, travellers cheques, and credit cards at the resort. We didn't have extra fees on our credit card. I think it depends on the bank you're with. JW
  8. Hi, I got married Feb 24, 2009. I used the marriage certificate we signed on the beach during the ceremony to change my name. No questions asked. I still have to change my passport and SIN, but otherwise everything is done. I actually didn't realize there was something else to come...an offical marriage document (hahahahaha). I am however still waiting for our professional pictures to come. J
  9. I just got married in February. My reception had the exact set up minus the rail and ceiling decorations. I also had a table set up at the front with 2 collages of pictures (one of me as a child growing up and the other my husband as a child growing up). On the same table we had our guest book and flowers. It was really pretty. We had orange sashes on the chairs. J
  10. Hi, We also did the sand ceremony. It's not included. You need to bring the script, the sand and the vases as nothing is provided. I bought the sand at Michaels craft store and the vases online The script I just printed from the internet. The JOP also included sand from the beach. I would say have your bridesmaids walk down to the same song. That's what I did. I don't see why you couldn't play music at the restaurant. You really do have a semi private section. Doesn't even feel like anyone else is in the restaurant. I think it would be fine. J
  11. Oh yeah........the other question Yes we rented the chair covers and sashes at the resort (last minute decision because it looked soooooooooooooooo beautiful). Rain.....it only rained for about an hour the whole week and it was at around 11:00 in the morning the day before our wedding. The spa.....I can't remember the girl who did my hair but my MOH and I both had ours done and there are only 2 girls both were fantastic. Bring a picture because we both did and they did exactly what we wanted. Jennifer
  12. HI Julia, We had 35 people at our wedding. We often didn't book everyone at the same time at the restaurants which really worked out best for us because we felt it wasn't necessary to do everything as a group. We had dinner with different groups of friends on different nights and on the last night our families (12 of us) had dinner at the Japanese restaurnat. We did have a rehearsal dinner Monday night before the wedding at the buffet and they arranged a section of the restaurant for us. We loved the disco. We did our first dances there and then everyone partied. It was a blast. I asked that they turn on some lights for our party because the night before when we went to check it out it was dark. With low lights it was perfect. The DJ was great and the bartender actually came out and danced with us a couple of times. VERY FUN. Caprice package ceremony set up is beautiful. There are extra flowers and tulle. Hairstyle for the bride is included mani/pedi, bouquet/boutainere. Couples massage, skin exfoliation, 2 bags of rose petals (which I had on the linen walkway for the ceremony).......it's a great package. Oh yeah and breakfast in bed the morning after the wedding which was AWESOME. There should be a list on the website for RIU weddings. You aren't allowed to substitute anything I checked. KRIS - we got married at 4:00. 1:00 is early but I'm sure people will just relax and hang out in between the ceremony and dinner. What photographer package did you get. We bought the Head Photographer package so we had 2 extra hours of photos which we did after the ceremony. That burns some time. Is you dinner at 6:30? Jennifer
  13. Hi, We chose the junior suite when we booked. We weren't offered an upgrade from that and we didn't ask. We were very happy with the junior suite. Did you go with a hotel room or suite? Both are very nice. I know when we were there it was VERY busy (Feb 21-2 and it was getting even more busy as the week went on. As part of the Caprice Wedding Package they offered a late check out when available.........that wasn't available. It rained for about an hour the entire week. It was absolutely beautiful. Some days were cloudy but still very warm. All in all it was mostly sunny and hot. Michael was great. Very professional and accomodating. The resort is BEAUTIFUL. Jennifer
  14. Hi Everyone, I have tried to write 2 reviews and they were VERY long. I guess too long because when I clicked to post the site had kicked me off. I cannot write it for a third time so I will give you a brief review. My wedding was a dream at the ROR. I loved every minute of it and would do it all over in a heart beat. I got married at the beach gazebo, rented the linen walkway, had chair covers with orange sashes, hired a steel drum band, ate at the Mammee Bay steakhouse, and rented the disco for 2 hours. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Chandlyn is amazing and set everything up exactly how I had asked. I set up a meeting with her prior to arriving. The photographer Michael was amazing. He was prompt adn captured all the right moments. Currently awaiting my photos. The resort is absolutely stunning and clean. The rooms are beautiful (we got a junior suite). The food is ok. We loved the Mammee Bay Steakhouse and the Japanese a la cartes. The others were good. We had no problems whatsoever reserving seats at the restaurants. We did have to go each day to do so but never waited long. The beach is beautiful, the service is great...besides the fact that the maids don't do the rooms until 4 in the afternoon. The day of my wedding I had to make my own bed (my only complaint). You are not going to regret your choice if you get married at the ROR. Any questions do not hesitate to ask. I love talking about my experience....oh yeah Renova Spa is incredible. I brought a picture and they did my hair exactly as I asked. I was very happy. I also LOVED LOVED my bouquet. I chose the cascading tropical flowers. I could go on and on but I'm afraid I will get bumped off again. Jennifer
  15. Hi, You don't need magnets for the rooms. I just got back last week and it was not an issue. J
