  1. I'm changing my plans from having my wedding at a private villa to a resort. The Grand Velas website looks fantastic! Has anyone attended or had a wedding at the Grand Velas (Nuevo Vallarta)? Does anyone have any pictures? thanks Elsa
  2. Yes please! I would be interested in hearing about the private villa! Is it on the beach? Thanks -Elsa
  3. Hi everyone, I'm in the final stages of locking down a villa for the wedding party to stay at and to host the reception. I really like Casa Mucamba's website, services and prices. However, I can't seem to find any real life pictures or feedback from other brides. Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions about this villa? It says, it's right on the beach. Is it sandy? Nice? How is the interior of the villa? Clean, traditional, nice? They say it was remodeled in 2004. How is the exterrior? private, peaceful, clean? I know there was a bride that had said she was heading to see the villa in May, but I haven't heard back from her. Hopefully she can post her pictures! Thanks! Elsa
  4. I'm really interested to hear your opinion about Casa Macumba! That's one of the places that I'm really interested in. If you have pictures, I'd love to see those too! -Elsa
  5. That's it! June's off! After consulting the almanac for the last few years of weather in PV, I've given up on my favorite month of June. And I'm back to a May wedding date. I figure if it's going to rain in June, then I might as well stay and have my wedding in Seattle. So my date are May 16 or May 23rd/24th. The weekend of the 23rd is Memorial Day, so I could have a Sunday wedding and have everyone fly home on Monday.
  6. We have about 40 guests we’re going to invite. So we're hoping we can find a villa(s) that will sleep 20 (the other 20 will stay in nearby resort). The villa will be the site of a pool party and the reception. Having the ceremony at the villa (on the beach) is not a requirement, but a nice to have. Below are just examples of places I could find on the web. I’m definitely interested in other options. (and any pictures people may have) Villa Option #1: One big villa which sleeps 20-22 Examples found: These are both fantastic villas, but are very expensive and out of our budget. http://www.boutiquevillas.com/villas/villa_vista_magica/villa_vista_magica.html http://www.costavallartaboutiquevill...pelillos.shtml Villa Option #2: 2 villas which each sleep 10-12 (or some combination to make 20-22) Examples found: This villa sleeps 12, but has a great reception/party area. I would need to find a second villa within walking distance to sleep the rest of the group. http://www.casabayvillas.com/puerto-vallarta-villas/details.asp?villa_nbr=125 These villas are side by side and have a great private beach area. They are a little weak on reception area. http://www.pvprop.com/salinasI.html and Salinas II Vacation Villas Puerto Vallarta Any opinions on these or other villas? I've looked throughout BDW site and looked at most of the villas. I am looking for kept up and modern villa (doors on bathrooms and AC in the bedrooms) Thanks for your thoughts! -Elsa
  7. I'm having the same dilemma. I have several immediate family that are professors and some are on semester schedules while others are on quarter. That means finals week is either the 2nd week in May or the 2nd week in June. My two choices for wedding dates would be the 3rd weekend in May or the 3rd weekend in June. Having the wedding in May means 2 of the guests will have to miss school during a critical time. My true preference is May due to cooler weather, but the best date to satisfy all would be June 20th, 2009. But I'm concerned about the heat in mid-June. My dad lives in PV so I've been consulting him on the weather and he pretty much confirms everything that's been said. His only other comment was that Nuevo has a nice evening breeze which could help combat the evening heat where PV has no breeze. I'm thinking of a late evening ceremony on the beach around 630-7, just in time for the sunset. Perhaps the heat isn't an issue at that time of night. Thoughts? -Elsa
  8. Hello, This is my first post and I thought I'd just introduce myself. My name is Elsa and I will be getting married in May or June 2009 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. My dad has been living there for 15 years, so I'm hoping he'll help with negotiating. I already have him sleuthing for villas and resorts. It's been very helpful to read all of the PV posts and look forward to more reading and posting now that I'm an "official" member. Thanks Elsa
