  1. I was married in Mexico in January and I have never been asked for a translated marriage certificate. And there are A LOT of things to change!!
  2. I didn't get married at Dreams however, in the Mayan Riviera we had to have a notarized copy of our birth certificates as well as passports.
  3. Happy Anniversary Sunbride....can you believe it's been a year already! Hope you 2 have a great day together.
  4. Has anyone heard anything lately? I had requested some items and haven't heard about paying?
  5. Hello, I am looking for white paper lanterns - either strings of lights and/or battery operated. If anyone has any they'd like to give away or sell for a great price let me know! Thank you very much!
  6. Until I get all my photos together, you can go to our wedding website and see a few photos if you like. Our Wedding Website | Welcome | amyandderek
  7. We used the resort photographer at the Grand Oasis Riviera Maya Resort in January, 2009 and we were very pleased with the results. The very second I met him, I felt like I knew him for ages and almost hugged him! He was fun and made you feel great. Our package included 2 hours, 70 printed photos in an album, the CD with all photos and the best part was they were delivered to our hotel the next day! $450 (and a tip!). There was another package with more time, photos and a photo book around $1000 Humberto Castilla was his name and his email is [email protected]. Not sure how to post photos!!
  8. If anyone is considering their wedding at the Grand Oasis Riviera Maya, I thought it was great. We chose this resort because of the "Complimentary Wedding Package" and the great beach. Everything went perfect. The WC was just as bad as any other resort in responding to emails however, it didn't matter. She took care of everything in the 1 hour meeting on our 2nd day. We had our blood tests done at the same time as the meeting in the lobby of the resort. It was fine. We chose some last minute things like appys for after the ceremony, the cake and flowers. My bouquet was amazing!! My favorite thing of all. So much, I carried it all the way home on the plane (customs didn't care). The archway from the ceremony was put on our dinner table and then we had it in our room for the rest of the trip. We gave it to an elderly couple when we left. We could smell the flowers outside of our room before we opened the door!! It was great. I didn't have a whole lot of "stuff" like decor so the whole process was easy. I'm sure she would have been more than happy to help with anything though. The hair/make up lady came to our room to do hair and make up. My make up was fantastic, I loved it and she did a good job of my hair but it wasn't what I was hoping for so it was just OK. The lady stayed until after the ceremony to touch of my make up as well, I thought that was very nice. The resort photographer - Humberto Castilla -was AWESOME. The pictures were great, he was fun and made us feel instantly comfortable and the best part was, we went home with the photos in a very nice album and CD. They were delivered the NEXT day!! He was great. The ceremony was short and sweet. Translated by the assistant WC. We each gave our Mom's a single flower with a starfish charm attached at the end of the ceremony. I gave my husbands Mom one and he gave my Mom hers. The water works were unreal! Then we had a quick first dance right then and there. My husband found "Kiss the Girl" instrumental string version from Little Mermaid for the dance. Then we had appys in the lounge bar before dinner in Dos Lunas - a really good restaurant. The staff in there was so fun and they remembered a few little things about us from a previous visit that made our reception that much more special. Wilber was his name. Over all, I was thrilled with everything and the resort. There are some bad reviews about it but we can't for the life of us understand why people would say anything bad. WE HAD THE BEST TIME!! Any questions, I'm more than happy to answer them, just send me a pm. Don't have a clue how to put pictures up!! Amy

  11. Are there any Canadian Brides ( or BC Brides) who have had to have their marriage license translated and if so what was required? Was it expensive? Can you have it translated in Mexico? Thank You! Amy
  12. Akumal Webcam: Riviera Maya webcams~ Mayan Riviera Mexico This is a webcam on a beach in the Mayan Riviera, should make you feel a little better, it's not too bad and there are people on the beach. It's a little windy...
  13. The price is the biggest decision factor for our guests. I have become quite fond of this resort, it seems a little smaller and more intimate. I also like the beach better than Dreams, soft white sand was a huge "wish" for us. Now if only I can find someone else who has been there to be as helpful as you! All those Dreams Brides are VERY lucky to have you!!
