  1. the veil has to go with the dress, so do something modern! maybe a modern version of small little net cap a la the 40s with a modern twist. then just wear it for the ceremony and a few pics. then you get the best of both worlds.
  2. i think whats most important is that you feel comfortable. i love the pin up idea! search pin up or varga girl online. the suicide girl website actually has a ton of cool pics from this era. everyone wants to be in tip top shape before they do boudoir but as much as you work on the outside work on the inside! your pics will be sooooooo much better if you are completely happy with your body! good luck!
  3. i am photographer chiming in i would say that it depends on the photographer those who only do destination weddings often have destination all inclusive packages that include all their fees i myself do not have a special destination pricelist so i add on any and all travel fees which for me personally do include the estimated cost of my and my assistant's food for the days i'm there if everything is all inclusive where i am staying that sometime i can decrease things a bit but most often i don't want to be trapped at the hotel when that is where you are working but you get there a day early and leave the next, its nice to get out a bit
  4. sometimes my clients send me an invitation if they want me to shoot it or if we have gotten really friendly they think its a nice gesture but . . .i certainly don't think its standard you paid your vendors, you have a contract, they better be there you certainly shouldn't have to invite them!
  5. tammy did your photographer give you your files. you might want to ask if the files you have are just proofs or finished files, that a big question in determining how your prints will look if you take them elsewhere. some photographers give finished files, some don't. when ordering through pictage, you have the guarantee of finished prints. pictage does have huge sales at christmas.
  6. i shot a wedding saturday night here in la with a french theme but she had the cutest idea for place cards i wanted to share with all you dw girls. she bought really vibrant cute french word flash cards (obviously you could do spanish for mexico or the islands). the cards were so cute on their own and she put a lot of thought into which one she gave everyone. her best friend got "shoes" because she loves shoes. all she did was punch a hole and tie a very pretty ribbon through it. they were laid out on the table but they would have looked cute hung too.
  7. i'm a photographer so i have a different perspective perhaps. i'd day 50% of my couples chose to see eachother before so that we can get some pictures done before hand. we set something up that makes that first glance pretty cool. obviously its not happening down the aisle but some people prefer the intimacy of seeing each other with only a few people there. its a super personal decision though. i say if it makes things easier for any reason that do it, but make it special.
  8. cute idea i think anything unique you do really makes your wedding that much more special
  9. i'm a photographer not a coordinator but i'd say i am offered tips at about 20% of my weddings. i feel like tips are meant for people who are not well paid, ie waiters OR vendors working for a big company. i work for myself, i get every dollar the couple pay me so i don't accept tips. i think the same goes for coordinators, if they work for themselves they don't need a tip. other vendors may kill me for saying this but its just my opinion. what is super nice is when couples send me a thank you. a lot of times they feel like i outdid their expectations and want to thank me. i'll never turn down a thank you because i love that they are taking special effort to let me know that love what i did.
  10. i think your best bet for finding something like that would be on high end florist's websites
  11. i love love love red and turquoise together i think thats an awesome choice a little bolder than turquoise and pink
  12. photographer's prices are so subjective. i think when it comes to photography, especially something super intimate like boudoir, you have to find someone whose work and personality you connect with #1! price has to be secondary. try to find someone who specializes in boudoir. when you are wearing next to nothing, its critical that you are posed in a flattering way. the more experience someone has the better. bad body positioning can make a skinny girl have rolls you know?
  13. a couple things: #1 if you monitor isn't calibrated you won't see things accurately #2 most printers for that kind of thing need a cmyk color profile, i'm betting your jpeg is set to rgb color profile or some sort, so it would help both see it on a calibrated monitor and to make sure its cmyk. ask the printing company to make sure what color mode they need it in. feel free to pm me if you need more help. i'd be happy to look at the file and convert it if you need.
