  1. It turned out great, I wouldn't have changed anything. As it turns out we were a little stressed out for no reason. We were also there 1 week prior so this helped out so we could get everything ready. Are you getting married at the RIU Palace? J&B
  2. We're getting married at the Riu palace Mexico on Dec 10, 2007. We are in the process of choosing our venue and all the accessories etc. Is there someone out there that got married at this resort and can give any ideas on what they really enjoyed and what they would have changed or recommended? Currently we are having our ceremony on the beach, I hope this is a good idea. We would like to know any suggestions on the best restaurants to hold the reception and any other info that would be helpful. Thanks, J

With the help of some angry guests, our TA finally ended up getting us the same rate through Sunquest. But it wasn't an easy battle! This is very surprising .. our $100/person is all they could do, so they say! What argument did you put forward to receive this kind of discount? We were specifically told they don't price match, so perhaps I should have another discussion with our agent!?

We're a little upset that some of our guests know that they could have saved $600-$800/couple by waiting. I just looked up the package on Expedia and 1 month ago it was $1775 which was pretty close to our deal, so it didn't matter. Now they have some sort of discount and it's around $1450... ouch! Of course Sunquest says they don't price match.. but they said they would reduce our rate by $100/person.
  5. We booked our package in Feb/07 and now we have found the same package for $400 per person cheaper. Our travel agent is attempting to calm our anxieties by letting us know that even airport transfers can be expensive and this adds to the price. So to put this to rest.. How much does it cost to get from the airport (Cancun) to Riu Palace Mexico? And what different styles of transportation can we arrange? (Taxi, shuttle van, limo etc) Thanks, Jason
  6. I will have to look into Jim's Formal Wear or something similar. I have checked out Banana Republic's and J Crew's website, but no luck on a light colored suit. Since I live in Canada I might have to find a rental place here as it might be difficult to coordinate with a company from the US. I should have looked into this earlier, I just never thought it would be this difficult!?
  7. I have been trying to figure out the suit situation, but with summer clearing out there isn't much to choose from in the way of light colors, so I'm a bit worried. I have thought about the linen pants and light shirt, but since I'll be wearing a suit I don't want them to seem underdressed. If no ones heard of suit rentals in Mexico then I may have to pick up the pace and find something fast!!
  8. We are getting married Dec at Riu Palace Mexico. I'm wondering if its possible to rent a suit somewhere around this resort? Or would it be better to just have all the GM's purchase their suits prior.. only problem they are all from different cities and countries (US & Canada) What do most people do?
  9. Hello, We're getting married at the Riu Palace Mexico Dec 10/07. I'm wondering about what to do for suits for the guys. Does anyone know if there are any rentals in or around the area I'm getting married? Thanks, J
