  1. Hi Everyone, I am getting married January 31st, 2014. I am wondering if there are any other brides around the same time who are interested in working something out for extra wedding decor. i.e. if anyone is getting married after me, perhaps I could leave supplies for you at the resort, or if your getting married before me, and there are things you aren't interested in bringing home with you that I could use.. we could work something out...... ? Just a thought considering many of the things at DT in terms of extra decor are SO overpriced!

I want to bring my own paper lanterns too, its crazy how much they charge to 'rent' theirs!!

  4. Does anyone have any information on excursions that are good nearby. My kids would really like to do a swim with the dolphins, we are doing a catamaran sail... any other good ideas? Recommendations of a good dolphin sanctuary?
  5. Hi Ladies, I am looking to start my wedding reception earlier in the evening, and that means paying for an additional hour or so of reception time. Has anyone been able to negotiate a better price from Dreams Tulum for their extended reception? I am getting an additional $18.50 per person, per hour, with the 60 that we are expecting presently, that's a whopping $1110.00 PER HOUR at minimum. I am just wondering if anyone else has done this and what the cost was...? THANKS!!
  6. Hi All! I am in search of an evening cruise/party boat for after the dinner reception at our wedding. It is proving to be difficult as there are many in Cancun, there does not seem to be as many within a reasonable travelling distance closer to Tulum. Ideally we wouldn't want to travel any further than 15-30min max from the resort to continue with the reception. Has anyone done, or know of any options like this in the Mayan area?
  7. Does anyone know of a seamstress or dress maker in the Edmonton area that can dramatically alter dresses and does not charge an arm and a leg? I am looking to have a longer bridal gown shortened into a party dress.....
  8. Yeah, they are on the opposite end of like Lustre and the Bridal Boutique, down the next hallway. Yeah Ethos was AWFUL!!! Both dresses are GEORGEOUS! But I feel better for a Mexico destination wedding in the second rather than the first from Davids Bridal, even though the BB one is a great deal more expensive. I am a bargain shopper, so the fact that I was willing to pay so much more, is saying something lol. I was thinking about trying to find a seamstress that could alter my DB dress into a shorter reception/party dress, do you or anyone know of any such person for a decent price in the Edmonton area? If I can't find someone who can do it without costing an arm and a leg, I might just try to resell it... it really is amazing
  9. I just got back from a trip to Edmonton and actually found two dresses!! I went to DAVIDS BRIDAL and had an appointment with Maddie, she was amazing! She really knew her stuff. My sisters, mother and mother-on-law went to work picking out dresses for me, as Maddie looked through the racks for dresses she thought fit what I was looking for, as well as the ones I had pointed out on their ipad that I liked. She was fabulous! I got an AMAZING deal on a stunning dress! They had me do a little bell ceremony and everything. It was wonderful. After sleeping on it though, and after purchasing my non-refundable dress, I decided that it was a little big for my Mexican wedding. I went back to THE BRIDAL BOUTIQUE at the West Ed and had another GREAT experience with Dorothy, she really knew her stuff. She picked out a number of dresses within my budget and allowed my sisters and mom to pick out some of their own. She was so friendly, gave me honest opinions and really was very attentive. When I came back to try on the dress I had stuck in my mind from a few days earlier, the manager helped me and was so friendly (maybe because she is a fellow Newfoundlander ) - she was so helpful, and attentive to me and my sister in law. I wasn't going to make the same mistake and choose a dress I wasn't positive on. So I slept on it, and came back the next day to put down my 50% deposit. The lady who helped me (I forget her name), was so sweet, and I really felt like everyone I dealt with there were not out to make a sale, but there to help me find MY dress, whether it be in their store or not! On the other hand I went to ETHOS and WALKED OUT! We had our appointment at one, I was greeted by two older ladies, who immediately told us to take our shoes off. Being a nurse, I was not interested in walking around on a grungy carpet that thousands of other bare dirty sweaty feet had been on (so many issues!). I kindly asked if we could keep them on, as our shoes were not dirty. We were told absolutely not, and that no matter where we went, we had to take our shoes off and that's how it was. From the get go I felt like I was burden to them. She asked me abruptly what I was looking for. I gave her an idea of the types of dresses I was looking for, she brought me to the back of the store, said "here is what we have, pick out two, and you can try them on, then will go from there". I looking at maybe two dresses, and looking at my mom and sister's and said 'lets just leave'. They all agreed. On the walk out, the lady said (ugh I wish I got her name), "whats going on?! Where are you going? If its because of the shoes that they way it is everywhere, so if you don't like it, (she raised her arms like, tough s***)" -- I looked at her and politely said, if that's your policy, fine, but this is really not a friendly place, and even if I saw a dress in here I wanted, I would not want to spend my hard earned money in a place like this... and left. I am so happy this was not my first appointment of the day, or I would have been utterly discouraged!!
  10. I agree, but most resorts are the same, but this is for a PRIVATE dinner, like poolside etc.... you can arrange (for a smaller fee), to have a dinner for your group during regular service hours too in the restaurants....
  11. Hi Ladies, I am looking for the best bang for my buck for flowers and I need some help.... I have found a couple great florists in the Cancun area that deliver beautiful flowers and centerpieces that are both nicer and a better rate then the resort itself. You are able to bring the dried, cut flowers across the Canadian border, so keeping the dried flowers as a keepsake is still an option. However, I have heard a lot about 'real touch' flowers and how many destination brides choose do go this route... has anyone done this? Plan to do it? Seen them? Have pictures? Has anyone used any Edmonton vendors? Thanks ladies :

  13. Hi! So we are looking into the private dinner as well. In order to do that you need to pay a private dinner fee which is about $900.00 USD and then you have to choose a menu option ontop of that which starts at about $20.00 per plate.
