Yipee!!! We just booked our ceremony!

Recommended Posts

(Yikes!!! I had written a nice long message this morning and something went wrong as I was submitting it, so only the title came through! So sorry! Let me recreate it now... :)

Good morning ladies!!!

Yipee!!! After about 2 months of researching and trying to decide on location (Hawaii, Cabo, or the Riviera Maya), hotel, WC, and the type of ceremony to have, we FINALLY confirmed a Catholic ceremony on May 30, 2008 at the Nuestra Senora del Carmen seaside chapel in Playa del Carmen!!!!!! I am SO excited!! I couldnâ€t even sleep last night, even though I am fighting a cold bug and needed to rest! It just feels so darn good that we will be having the type of wedding weâ€ve always wanted - something unique, special and memorable - even in light of the weirdness weâ€ve gotten from some people (future MIL and some others)! So as far as our accommodations we are staying at the Hotel La Tortuga, a small non-mega resort hotel a few blocks from the beach that is so CUTE, extremely reasonable (how can you beat $80 bucks a night for a standard room?!?!) and has consistently received great reviews on Tripadvisor. I have to say that Anna, my contact at the hotel, has been extremely helpful, informative and super nice as she answered my endless questions about the hotel and planning a wedding. Caribbean Blue Weddings will actually be my WCs (the hotel contracts with them), but before sending them our deposit yesterday Anna was my source of info and go-between. Once I submitted my deposit, Anna handed me off to Irene of CBW, who immediately contacted me to introduce herself and follow up with all the details. She also seems very nice and thorough! I am hopeful that my positive experiences with Anna and Irene so far will continue towards a great wedding!

We havenâ€t yet confirmed where to have our simple reception dinner for our 6 guests, but weâ€re not too concerned about that right now since Irene will help us and all we want is a nice meal, have a traditional mexican trio serenading us while we eat, and a yummy cake! Since our parents/aunts/uncle are up there in age, itâ€s not like weâ€ll be boogying the night away (haha), so we didnâ€t have the need to hire a dance band or a dj. We may head on to another locale in Playa to dance after if we want, or my future hubby and I may just want to start our wedding night early! (hee hee). Weâ€ll be having a very informal AHR a few months after we get back.

I am so grateful for this forum and all you lovely ladies for all the info and resources that have helped me come to this decision!!! I truly appreciate it! For those brides who are still in the midst of trying to decide, feel free to pm me if you want more details on my experiences so far.

A million thanks, and have a great day!

Thanks gals! I will most certainly share my pics with you! We're still waiting to confirm photographer (either Claudia Rodriguez's team or Jill Higgins) so that's my next "to do"!

Now that I've decided on my locale and date, how do I change that on my little bdw profile??

Have a great evening!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
