Guest Packages for ROR

Recommended Posts

Ok, I'm working with the destinationweddings.com coordinator and I was trying to create wedding packages for the guests (travel and accomodations). The DWC said that ROR did not have any packages. Did anyone create packages for their guests? If so, where do I start? We are having about 40 guests.

Oh yeah, how does this sound to you all?:

Wedding @4 on the beach with gazebo

Cocktail reception with steel drums until dinner @ 6

Dinner Reception and dancing @ Plantation/w DJ (not sure 2hrs or 4hs)

My friends and family love to dance so we have to have space for that! Does the Plantation have that space?drum.gif

I used a local travel agent to book the flight and hotel thru Air Jamaica. My guests will be there from April10th-14th and is costing around $1000 per person including flight from Atlanta, for double occupancy. I chose to use a travel agent b/c that allowed my guests to make make payments over the past few months instead of having to pay for everthing in a lump sum.

Hope this helps!

That sounds very similar to what I'm doing. I have the Plantation for 4 hours. I was told there is room for a dj and dancing.

HMM

is she saying they dont have large party pkgs or wedding pkgs bc they have both

For hte wedding package you go to the wedding page on the riu site, this is where you have to go to actually book the wedding as well.

for the lg party pkgs I was told that I should get one free person for every 20 that booked, but I was going at Christmas time so I didnt ge tthat deal. Riu also has early booking saving deals and wedding savings deals- thier website should give more info.

You can book a package, including air on Riu's website. I know I've seen it before, so I just went & double checked. I just attempted to book from Atlanta. You can take a look:
Riu Hotels & Resorts

You can have your guests book individually on that site, or you can go with your local TA. I guess the advantage of the TA would be that your guests can pay over time, as opposed to paying in one lump sum.

Thats exactly what we did ourselves-we have group contracts with the Riu & with Delta. FI is a new TA so that helped. But, if I had to do it over again I wouldn't have done it that way only because we had to put down the initial deposit for the entire group, for the hotel & with the airline. Granted, we'll get the $ back, but depending on how large your group is it can be a pretty penny!

I was doing it through Destinationwedding.com and she said I'd have to sign the contracts and all that crap. I didn't want to do that because I didn't know how many people were coming at the time, plus I NEED THAT MONEY! I'll just put the Riu link on my website and the guests can go from there.

Side note:rant.gif

I really wish the Riu's website was more informative. If they had info and picture samples like Sandals that would really be cool. Its like we're all going in blindly on one of our most important days!smile41.gif That's kinda scary! But thank goodness for this website!!!!smile159.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
