Searching the Forum

Recommended Posts

Lately, I think we've all noticed a lot of questions/new threads being posted on things that have been answered/discussed at length on the forum already. While we understand that not everyone was around at the time the topic was discussed, this forum has some great search capabilities and is also organized quite logically.

In order to avoid, or at least minimize, a lot of duplicate threads or repeatitive questions, please do your best to use the search function of the forum before posting a new thread. Not only will this help to keep resource usage down (storing many threads about the same topic) but it will help future brides and grooms when they have the same question - they won't have to weed through several threads on the same topic.

Here are some helpful tips for searching ...

1) Search: In the main menu above, towards the right side, there is a option labeled, quite appropriately, "Search."

>> If you click on this menu option, a sub-menu appears.

>> From here you can either enter your search criteria, for example "sand ceremony," into the text field and press "Go"

2) Advanced Search: In the main menu above, towards the right side, there is a option labeled, quite appropriately, "Search." If you click on this menu option, a sub-menu appears (same as #1 above). Click on Advanced Search, which will take you to another screen where you can enter more criteria.

>> You could enter the same text, as well as some additional criteria.

>> If you know who posted something specific, you could enter their user id.

>> Or if you knew a date range, or what sub-forum you want to search in, you could enter criteria for that as well.

>> Also, you can choose to search only thread titles, as well as a few other options

3) Forum and Sub-Forums: Unlike some other forums, this one is actually categorized quite well. If you're looking for information on a wedding dress, or for restaurants in Puerto Vallarta, for example, you could easily navigate to the appropriate sub-forums.

>> There are many ways to do this, but here's one I use. Get to the main screen by clicking on the "Best Destination Wedding Forum" breadcrumb in the upper left corner of your screen, just below the main menu bar (see below)

>> From there, you can see all forums and sub-forums available. Simply look around and see what makes sense to what you're looking for!

**Along the same lines, PLEASE be aware of where you're posting your new thread. I know it's not always obvious, but do your best to post your new threads in the appropriate forums or sub-forums. This will only help us maintain this forum and make it an even more useful tool for brides and grooms in the future!

4) Unread Posts: To see all posts that you haven't read since your last visit, simple click on the "Unread Posts" link in the upper right corner of your screen. I use this MANY times a day!

Click the image to open in full size.

5) First Unread Post in a Thread: There are 2 ways to do this; once you have a thread open, you can jump to the first unread post in that thread by clicking the "View First Unread" link in the upper left corner of the thread. Or, you can click on the little down arrows immediately to the left of the thread name.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
