My fiance and I have decided to do a destination wedding and we LOVE Playa Del Carmen. We'd like to find a venue close to or in the city (so our guests have hotel options). I think we'll have 75 - 100 guests and we would like a venue that has some sort of exclusive, large palapa or gazebo that the reception could take place under (preferably with a view of the beach without being right ON the beach :) with room for a dance floor. Does anyone know of such a place??

I've been looking around this site and seeing some really beautiful places, but I thought I would put it out there in case anyone had ideas...

I had my wedding in Playa del Carmen and worked with Ajua Weddings wedding coordinator. They are AWESOME (you can find my wedding review on the forum)! I'm pretty positive they have something that fits what you want. Actually, I just checked out their website and they do plan events at two beachside restaurants:

Playa del Carmen Restaurants, Wedding Reception, Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Mexico-Ajua Weddings

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I'm doing mine at an AI - but if you're looking for non-AI venues, I hear that Al Cielo is supposed to be quite nice.

Welcome. Your guests could stay at the Gran Porto Real Official Web Site - Gran Porto Real Playa del Carmen Hotel, Playa del Carmen and then have your reception at The Blue Parrot.

First off, welcome to BDW. This is a great place to get advice.

There are defininetly some options in Playa based on the criteria you are looking for as you could do a secluded beach wedding and then move to a reception location near or on the beach.

                    Take care and good luck.
