I plan on putting half of my hair up - that way it is out of my face but I can still get that long hair look. It all depends on how you feel or what you want that is best. Trust me your hairstyle is the last thing that everyone is going to be looking at :)

I also have thick wavy curls and prefer my hair down. I kept going back and forth but I knew I wanted it down so I decided on doing half up and half down, just so I wouldn't have to worry about my hair being in my face. So if you want your hair down, I say go for it!

I'm getting married in Mexico where it will most likely either be windy or hot so I'm wearing it all up to not have to deal. My fiance wants me to wear it down because it's how I wear it just about every day, but he doesn't really get a vote on this one. :P

I noticed your wedding will be in Rome, so it may not be as big of a concern for you - but a lot of DW brides wear their hair up do to the heat (sweat on the back of the neck and such) as well as the wind. If those things aren't a concern for you, then you should wear it the way you feel most attractive. This will be THE most photographed day of your life, so you should look and feel beautiful without regard to what is the norm. Good luck deciding.

DH doesn't really care for UpDo's, and while it wasn't really up to him wink.gif, I love the look of big curls blowing in the wind on the beach, so that's what I did. An UpDo was a bit formal for me. Also, I didn't wear a veil, just a hair flower, so I guess I was a bit different. I don't feel a like my hair took away from the dress AT ALL. If you feel like this may happen, I would recommend a half up/half down. Good Luck, I'm sure whatever you chose will be beautiful!

I haven't really decided, but I think I am going to go with the half up idea. I love my hair down, but it tends to bother me and end up in a ponytail. My FI likes my hair both ways. Since I am getting married in Aruba and it is supposed to be windy there I figured half up would be best.

I have thick and wavy curls and have thought about wearing my hair down because I feel I look my best when it's down and do actually like it better that way, however my hair is also long so I'm afraid it may cover the dress somewhat and i want to show the dress off too. Hence, why I'm stuck.

So, what's your opinion, ladies, on the Updo vs. Downdo topic?

Or even, what style do you plan on having done for your wedding?

I forgot to mention the halfup and halfdown-do. That's also a very nice option, but I think I would take it in the direction of using a flower or something to hold up part of one side, instead of holding up a full half.
I am going to merge this thread you started with the "main" hair thread. It's better to post all info for one topic in the same thread so it makes searching easier for the next person.

OK ladies...so I have found the best foundation ever!!! It's Makeup Forever HD Foundation and it is amazing!!! You can get it at Sephora...I also got there microfinishing powder which sets the whole look. Check it out for sure!!

Couldn't agree more! This stuff is the best. I have some sun spots and this covers it completely. The HD powder sets everything in and I don't have to worry about my makeup fading for at least 6-7 hrs!

I just read all 24 pages of this thread and I am still confused!!  I loved so many of the pictures and posts on here but I still have my heart set on wearing my hair down.  My hair is super straight and can't hold a curl no matter how much hair spray is used...and i have never had an updo that i liked on me.  They just make me look like someone other than myself.  And I dont want to feel that way on my wedding day.  But I also dont want my hair blowing in my face during my ceremony.  Ahhh!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
