sunset cruise with family for welcome dinner

Recommended Posts

Erica, we are doing this for our "rehearsal dinner" instead of going out somewhere. My WC booked it for us on the Sunrider out of Cabo. It is about $40-$50pp but includes full domestic bar (probably just beer and tequilla) and Mexican buffet (they grill right on the boat. We have 25ppl going and it will be about $1,100 or $1,200 from my memory. I feel like that is a good deal...and we are paying for it as a nice "gift" for our family coming down there.....pinkie.gif Let me know if you need more info. I think the website was SunRider Adventure - Excitement & Fun pinkie.gif

I booked the sunrider sunset cruise for my rehearsal dinner but invited everyone that came down for the wedding. The scenery on the cruise was awesome. It was very choppy out there and numerous people were getting seasick. I grew up on a boat and I was getting nautious. They did grill on the boat. It was beef tacos, rice, fruits, chicken kabobs refried beans. Nothing special but nice to pick on stuff. It was a full bar of alcohol. The boat itself isn't that great becasue it is old looking. That was the disappointing part.

I had a party of 31 and received a 10% discount for having over 30 people so it wound up being $40.60 per person instead of $45. Not sure what the 2008 prices are. You can have the entire boat to yourself but it was about $600 more. I didn't think it was worth the money, plus it is the smaller boat. How choppy it was the night I went, we all would have been sick on the smaller boat!! The cruise was definately worth the $40 per person and I would recommend it. Just get there early so you can get seats on the top. That is where the partying is at!! I got there late so my group was downstairs. It was OK but everyone wanted to be upstairs..

Erica,

I booked the Sunrider Sunset Cruise for my Welcome Dinner last November. We had 21 people and it was a great time - one of the main highlights of the trip. It was an awesome way to get everyone together and no one from our group had been to Cabo yet so it was a great introduction to Mexico. The sightseeing on the boat and information the workers give you was excellent! Also, there is the open buffet and assorted drinks as you mention, nothing fancy but no complaints, and later on in the tour the tequila comes out! BEWARE! Then they have a few group sorta dances, the token YMCA and another. Overall, I thought it was a blast and is a great idea for a Welcome Event. If I knew how to post some pics I would! If you would like just pm me your email address and I can send you some.

Have a blast!

Kim

We used sunrider for our RD. It was a full domestic bar including pina coladas, etc. wink.gif

Have fun!

  • 1 month later...

Does anyone that has done this know exactly what time we should arrive? How early is early? I am making up my brochures and am wondering when I should be having people meet at the lobby of the resort to catch the transfer to the dock. Does anyone know how far away Dreams Resort is from the dock?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
