We have a good idea of who's going b/c our STD said to let us know if they were a yes, no or maybe. it's the maybe's that worry me.
I did the same thing, but I'm having second thoughts about sending an invitation. My STD didn't require an RSVP, but stated that anyone who wanted to participate in the travel & resort group rates would have to make deposits by Nov 1.

That prompted everyone to respond by making payments. I recently sent a "Wedding Update" newsletter to everyone letting them know that the airfare and 40% of the resort costs must be paid by Feb. 7.

I felt guilty at first sending the Update so soon after Xmas, but since no one was making payments as part of the established payment plan, I had to take drastic action! smile67.gif

At this point, my invitation would only be a formality! To date, I have 37 people confirmed to go.

my wedding is aug 9th. we are sending out STDs in 3 weeks (the 6 month mark) with a prelim. rsvp to our website within 3 weeks from the day they receive them. our invites will likely go out either very end of april or very early may, with a june 1 RSVP date so we can get a final headcount, and give the few stragglers an additional 2 weeks to get their crap together and book the room and whatnot. our final date for booking the rooms is actually july 9th, but we sure as hell arent telling our guests that!

Our wedding is in june. I sent out STDs in August & September (took a while to get all the addresses). I've been sending out some email updates & I keep the website updated. It's now 5 months until the wedding. I am making my invites now. I'll probably send them as soon as they are ready. It might take a while, because I need to glue cardstock onto 60 of them still. And then 2 friends are going to caligraphy the addresses. So maybe they will be done in a month or two. Then I'll send them out. 3-4 months in advance. I'm really excited to get them out because I had so much fun making them & can't wait to share them.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had read that with destination weddings, it was acceptable to send out the invitations up to four months prior to the wedding date, with the RSVP to be two months prior to the wedding date. However, I am completely stressing because I am having an October wedding and will be putting out my STDs next week. Haven't even picked out an invitation, let alone nail down the guest list. STRESSED!

Take a deep breath, it will all work out. I sent out my STD's the second week of January. The guest list keeps changing, but nothing too drastic. I plan on sending my invites the end of July.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
