Hi Girls,

My FI and I are getting married at the Royal Plantation in Ocho Rios this July. I was wondering if there were any other Royal Plantation brides on the forum? Would love to chat about RP if you have any info!

Thanks

Yay, I'm so excited there is finally another RP bride!!

Is Shaunette your Wedding coordinator? She has been fabulous so far.

Where are you having your ceremony and reception?

We are having the ceremony on the beach and most likely reception in a private room. Although I would love it outside, I don't think my guests would like it.

Where outside are you doing the reception?

I still haven't decided on flowers. :-( I'm pretty sure that I want calla lillies at the reception, but that's all I have decided so far.

Are your guest actually staying at he resort? None of mine are.

I think we are going to do it on the terrace. I'm thinking roses and the calalillies and the white orchids. how many people are you having again? we are having about 45 . 3 couples are staying at Sandals next door and the rest are staying with us. We will be at RP for 10 mdays and then we are going to Turks and Caicos for 5 days.

What color are your bridesmaids wearing?

The flowers sound terrific! Did you get a quote for the flowers yet? Wow, 45 guests. You are so lucky that most of your guests are staying at RP. I'm sure that is saving you a lot. Your party is occupying most of the resort! That's really cool.

We are only having about 15 guests so far that we know of for sure and they are staying at the Sandals and Beaches.

I opted to not have bridesmaids since we are having such a small group. My little sister is going to be a my assistant. :-) Just because she wanted to dress up, so she is going to wear a chocolate brown dress. Our colors are Chocolate, Ivory and Tiffany Blue.

Which wedding package did you go with?

Oh yeah, to answer your other questions. We actually have been to Jamaica before but never visited RP because we thought we were going to do it in Montego Bay. But all of the reviews just totally swayed my decision. I've only heard wonderful things about the resort. We really wanted a small resort too so it worked out perfect. It's a little pricey though which is the downside.

The only person we are working with is Shanuette. I guess once we get there though we have a new coordinator, do you know who that is yet?

i am actually surprised at the fact that we are having that many too. at the same time it is saving $ to have them stay there it it still costing a fortune to feed them all dinner. What stinks is that they still charge for dinner even for those staying on the royal plan. I haven't gotten a quote on flowers just yet but they get them at tai flora . there is a website. it made me feel a little better to know that they had one. Tai Flora Services Ltd. - Jamaica's Full Service Florists. I went there last June. It is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at and I have traveled a lot.

we are only having one person each stand p with us. but my girlfriends all are looking for a similar color dress to my MOH. she is wearing a super light creamy alabaster. it is kinda a cross between a peach cream and pink. We picked the diamond package because I wanted to bring a lot of my own stuff and build a package. I want it to be like a wedding we would do here in the states but there.

andre is the go to guy at the resort and he is great he spent like 3 hours with me there going over everything. are you doing bags in your guest rooms? how about . we are doing a welcome party on thurs night before the wedding so all my friends and family can meet.

Do you have your dress?? what does it look like? i love the blue and brown thing we re doing all white and creams. very neutral.

how long are you guys going for?

we are going to stay at royal for 10 days and then we are going to turks and caicos for 4 days. I am soooooooooo ready to go!!!!!!!! what kind of decor are you doing on the beach?

i am so glad I am getting to talk to you!

Oh wow, thank you so much for all that info. The florists website is so nice! I'm going to bring most of my decor as well.

I really want to have a runner at the ceremony site, but I think she quoted me something like 400-500. For a runner! I want flowers on top of it, so I was thinking about bringing my own. What were you planning on doing for that? We also choose the diamond package. The ultimate really didn't have much more that I was interested in.

We are doing bags, but since most of our guests are not staying at the hotel we are going to give them out at our "rehearsal dinner". We are taking everyone out to Evita's in town for that. I know someone who lives in Montego Bay, so I am going to send the decor boxes ahead of time.

We are staying for 8 days. You are lucky that you get to go on trip to the turks and caicos!! That sounds amazing!

I really wanted to have a reception outside as well. But I'm concerned with the heat. Are you worried about that at all?

The one thing I am concerned about is the photography. I wish we were allowed to use an outside photog, have you seen any of the photographers work?

My dress is very Non-Beachy. I bought it before I found out we were expecting... :-( so I might end up with another dress. Here is a picture of it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
