To those who had or are planning to have a sand ceremony: who read it? The officiant or a guest?

I am going to have a guest read it. It is someone I didn't ask to be a BM, but want her involved in the ceremony.

Matt's sister read the sand ceremony.. she also read a poem that had everyone crying. I had no idea it meant so much for her to read the sand ceremony until she told me... I'm so glad she did.. it meant the world to us! AND it was so cute to hear about her practicing so much before the big day, she was nervous!

We had our officiant read ours. He had our mothers come up and pour sand at the beginning then we did our vow and then we poured the rest together. It just flowed with the ceremony. Everyone that came had a part. My dad walked me down the aisle. My mom and mil did the sand. My FI cousin was his best man and my fil was a witness.

I never even thought about having a guest do it but great idea. I'm totally going to have my best friend read it who is not a part of the wedding but kinda wanted her to but was trying to keep it small :)

I haven't really thought about this either. I just always thought the officiant would do it, now I might pick a guest to do it.

I'm thinking the same thing now too. It is a great idea.
