wedding day gifts for each other

Recommended Posts

So I go back and forth whether I will do the BD photos or not. I HATE having my picture taken, so that would be a super hard thing for me to do. But Matt loves to have pics of me, he plasters them all over his station at work. I hate it, but I have learned to ignore it ;') Anyway, cuz he knows how I hate having my pic taken, I think he would be blown away if I did the BD photos for him. My opinion on this topic changes daily, so we'll just see how I feel about it after i've lost a few lbs and perhaps I will go for it.

Wow, that was a lot of words to ger to my point!!! I see that most of the time, the gifts we buy for our hubbies-to-be are the BD photos or a watch. What is the norm that he would buy for you? My friend got a Luis Vuitton for her wedding, but other then on here and her, I have never heard of this tradition. So do you ask for something specific? Does he surprise you? Do you decide ahead of time that you are doing it??

I'm glad you said it, because I'd never heard of this tradition at all before here. We opted out of this one, for us the pledge of lifetime love was a present enough...hehe

I don't think you ask for something specific, I would assume the gift is something your spouse wants to give you as a symbol of love. Although I don't know how the Louis Vuitton fits into that theory...lol Maybe he knew she really wanted one and chose to make her happy that way?

Carly you know I think you should do the BD pics... but for your question, I have no idea what Sam got me. I didn't actually think he had gotten me anything, but he mentioned it a few weeks ago, so I'm really curious. I'll let you know when I get back! I think most guys do jewelry, but I would think it would be something they think will be sentimental.

My best friend bought her husband a Rolex watch (which I believe was engraved on the back with a private message) and his gift to her was a pair of light blue sapphire earrings shaped like stars with diamond accents from Tiffany - they were her something blue. I think those are totally over the top gifts, but they were both very lovely.

Not sure if FI and I are going to exchange wedding day gifts yet. One time I casually mentioned the idea of BD pics and he really wasn't crazy about the idea, actually I was surprised at his negative reaction to the idea, so I probably won't do those. He said his mental pictures were good enough haha. So I have no idea what I would get him, because he already has a Rolex, so I really can't top that in the watch department!

I also go back and forth with BD pics....I know he would love them, but I think the anxiety would take me over the top. Seriously. I am giving myself a few months to get back in shape and then I will see.

If not, he wants a Boxer pup...Obviously I couldn't take it down there, but I am thinking about taking a picture of it and putting it in the card or framing it and giving it to him. He will be so excited to get home!!

But, he also wants a 4 door Jeep...this would be harder to do without him knowing. My Jeep is the car that we would trade in and it's in both our names, so I couldn't do it without him being there.

He's not getting a watch or anything "typical." We are not typical people and he loses all his watches anyhow!

I have no idea what he will get me....we share money and I manage the bills, so I guess it wil depend on how much money I give him to buy my gift. ha!

rofl.gifrofl.gifrofl.gif Reminds me of when I was a kid and would ask my dad for money to buy my parents a Christmas gift. He would go in his wallet and say "Let's see...how nice of a gift do I want". Funny!

When my FI and I started dating I found out that he does not like watches(which was a huge disappointment because its a great gift idea) but he told me that all he ever wanted was a pocket watch. At that point I knew what I was going to get him when we were to get married. I am going to get a pocket watch and in the inside put a mesg. in there for him and the date of our wedding on the outside. I am very excited. As for me, I have no idea what he is going to do for me, most likely jewelry.

My FI isn't big into things... so gifts are tough. I gave him a watch at Christmas, and golf shoes for his last birthday (wheee...)

I'm thinking that maybe I'll find a shell, or something special while at our DH and have it framed in a little picture box. More sentimental than impressive, but I'm stumped.

What am I going to do about birthdays and xmases for the rest of my life?? (Love the fact that its for the rest of my life, though!!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
