What Is a TA's Role for a DW?

I'm curious as to what i can expect from my TA as our DW date draws near.

I saw Sheaa's post with the travel info her TA mailed out. But, I am wondering if all TA's or most TA's do this sort of thing.

My TA has been great to work with, but I feel ike I am doing a lot of her work for her, when I have plenty to take care of on my own.

When a guest contacts her witha question ... she calls me and asks me to explain things to the guest (I have asked all guests NOT to contact me about things since I am busy enough).

She email me copies of all the guest invoices(which is nice to have so I know everyone's travel dates) but also asked that I send them out and f/u since our payments are due next week.

Anyway -- maybe a lot of this is normal. I don't mind most of it ... but I wish she was doing more of the interacting with the guests instead of always contacting me. Maybe I should be grateful that I am so kept in the loop?

Mine contacted the guests and sent the guests the invoices, I just assumed that's what they're supposed to do. After all, each guest is paying their own way, so each of them are a client of hers, not just you, why would you be sending out invoices? It just doesn't make sense to me.

My TA is contacting guests that have deposits down and sending invoices. She even offered to send email or call the people who haven't put down deposits yet. I agree with Jill, they are clients of her's too, she should be dealing with the invoices and their questions. That's not your responsibility. Maybe you should explain to her that you really don't have the time to do all of this because you are busy planning your wedding.

Mine has been taking care of absolutely everything in the travel area. Some of my guests have had to change their rooms or flights or even where they were leaving from and she's handling everything. She even acts as a mediator w/ the resort. Having her has made my life so much easier!

My TA is pretty good. I didn't know however that this was her first group account! She does anything I ask her, follows up on all of my questions. She had the marketiung department develop a cull color flyer and brochure for each potential guest will all pertinent info. She also has a spreadsheet of who has signed up to go that she shares regularly.

I would definitely express your concerns to your agent. It is her job not yours to mail invoices, etc. Does this mean she also expects you to pay for all postage?

I don't think she is doing her job. Does she specialize in DW's or group events? Even the spacey TA from our first site visit (did not care for her...) said it was her role to take care of these things so that the bride does not have to worry about dealing with everyone - they should be calling her with any questions/concerns not you!

My current TA also specializes in DWs but seems much more on top of things than the last. I will be expecting her to keep in contact with the guests as they are her clients.

From what you've said I do not think your TA's services are up to par.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
