Question For Sheraton Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi Brides! We are looking at doing our beach ceremony at the Sheraton (where our guests will be) and having the reception at a private villa within walking distance. Do any of you girls know the fees for the Sheraton ceremony? I know we need to block off 10 rooms. Also we are doing a legal ceremony in Texas (for our older grandparents who can't travel) so we won't need any legal fees. Just curious if there is a site fee on top of the room block? Thanks girls!

Well I'm sure prices have gone up quiet a bit since I got married this past June. I got married during the week, and you would be surprised how much cheaper it is. I've been told on a Saturday wedding the location fee is $3000.00, I paid $300.00 for Tuesday wedding on the beach in front of De Cortez.

Hi - we are getting married at the Sheraton in 2 months and are having the ceremony and reception there.

Here's the language from the contract - you will need 10 rooms for 2 nights each (so 20 nights) or you will be liable for both the rooms and the setup fees. These concessions are only good if you book all 10 rooms for 2 nights. (We are trying to make sure that we get at least 10 rooms. They are $319 a night so alot of people are staying elsewhere in timeshares).

-One complimentary national welcome drink coupon per person at check in.

-Complimentary Luxury Suite for the bride and groom on the wedding night (no meals included).

-One complimentary bottle of sparkling wine for the “new couple†in their room (on the wedding night).

-Gift certificate for the bride and groom for one night European Plan, to be used within a year (reservation subject to availability).

-Complimentary location or set up fee, no decoration included, provided a reception party is held after the ceremony.

- Group rate valid 3 days pre and post the official wedding dates (subject to availability).

-Nightly turndown service (newspapers not included).

-Special rates at Cabo del Sol Golf Courses.

-15% discount at any Spa treatments for contracted rooms only (beauty salon services not included).

A minimum room block of 10 rooms for 2 nights each (no cumulative basis) and the wedding reception held in the hotel are required in order to maintain all conditions and concessions mentioned in this contract.

Not sure what the set up fee is but I think $3000 sounds about right.

Per the above (and my contract was exactly the same), I think you need to have your reception at the hotel in order for them to waive the site fee, so you probably will have one. We had both ceremony and reception at the Sheraton so there was no site fee.

I was wondering this same thing...

So basically, if you have your reception there, there is no site fee for the ceremony? I wonder if this includes the chapel...

I haven't heard anything back from the events coordinator there.

Does anyone know if the reception could include one of the restaurants at the Sheraton?

I'm not sure about the chapel, but the reception can definitely be in any of the restaurants (mine was in de Cortez, as was Tammy's).
Good luck with hearing back from the events coordinator, she is not that great. I would suggest getting a WC and having them do the communication with the Sheraton - it will be much easier on you in the long run.

Ditto on not getting a timely response from Irma or Berenice (the Sheraton WC) which is why I have Baja Weddings.

My guest list at this point is rapidly shrinking as folks are declining the wedding. invited 120 people but think I'll be lucky with 50 people.

I'm worried we won't even have the 10 rooms/2 nights at this rate and we have to fork out extra $.

We might subsidize people's rooms to entice them to stay at the Sheraton.

We signed our contract in March 2007 and were not able to book the restaurant - doing the reception at the Palapa. Not sure if there is another event going on that day or not.

My contract was pretty much the same as above...just a different room rate. We also didn't have a ceremony fee as we had the 10 room block and had our reception there at the palapa.

Irma always seemed really busy and I often had to email her a couple of times to get a response or she would take about a week to reply. I also hired an outside coordinator and would highly recommend doing so...often there are multiple weddings at the same time...there were 3 the day of my wedding (a Saturday)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
