Anyone used Father Jorge?

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Just wanted to see if anyone had Father Jorge do their catholic ceremony in Playa? I was a little concerned to hear that the other English speaking priest in the area, Father Quinn, sorta rushes through the ceremony and can be a bit "blah". I'd love to know what anyone's experience with this other priest has been.

Thanks!!

Susan

Hola brides,

I'm resurrecting this post in the hopes of getting some feedback. Especially if anyone has worked with either one of these priests (Father Jorge Castaneda or the other one), their experience(s), and what they charged. I recently sent an e-mail in Spanish to the chapel, and someone finally replied today (in Spanish). My Espanol is a bit rusty, but my understanding is it's about $300 US for just the chapel fee for the Capilla Nuestra Senora del Carmen - not including the priest fee or to have the wedding conducted in English. I'm trying to plan this all without hiring a WC if at all possible, because we are just having a small ceremony and MAY have our parents along and possibly a few other family members. So if anyone could provide info on either of these English-speaking priests, that would be great!

I'm shooting at the Capilla today. I'll make sure I get the name of the priest. I shot there a couple moinths ago and the mass was delivered in English and was good, well paced, a little dry. The priest who rushes I have not seen at the Capilla, he's usually at the other church. I'll post again after today's wedding.

We had the Irish priest who has really rushed in the past. He was great, really relaxed and well paced. I think he gave up on the fast stuff. So I've seen both the English speaking priests and I think their both great. Much better than most of the people I see at civil ceremonies on the beach. I think it's a great choice. We had a big group (I'm bad with crowd estimations) and they packed the small church. It was a tight place to work but I have to admit it was kind of exciting to have a standing room only crowd.

Thanks. Would you happen to know Fr. James hours? Rosa from Nuestra Senora Del Carmen (NSDC) told me he is not part of their church but he can do masses in English and can do them at the NSDC. She gave me his number but all I get is his voicemail.

Has anyone heard of Father John McCormick? I just found out the priest we met with in May - Father Jeffrey Jambon got transferred to the US! So now we are in search of a priest again :**( Our coordinator told us about Father McCormick. Please let us know if any of you have met him or had a mass done by him.

Thanks -

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
