Hello.

I came here for some advice. We always dreamed of just running off to some beach and getting married just the two of us. Well of course, reality sets in, and while we don't want anything too big, we know we have to invite some friends and family.

We are planning end of 2008 or early 2009. I am overwhelmed. She's been nowhere. I've traveled quite a bit, but nothing really exotic, and mostly for business. Been to Jamaica, and the Bahammas a couple of times. Stop offs in Mexico here and there on a cruise, but I have never really vactioned like a champ.

Our requirements:

1. Family friendly, since I have two kids who obviously I want there

2. Caribbean or Mexico

3. All inclusive

4. Average size. I don't think I would like a little teeny place, but I can be convinced.

I'd also like to know if anyone has planned directly with a resort or has good recommendations of destination planners. Money for the two of us is not a big issue, I'm not looking to go crazy, but I can splurge a little. Our guests will be of mixed incomes.

Soooooooooo, any advice would be fantastic. I am a little overwhelmed by the breadth of these forums, perhaps someone could also lead me to a thread if that's easier. Thanks.

Welcome! There are so many coices. MY FI and I think we have settled on the Riviera Maya because its the most convienient for friends and family coming from both coasts, and it seems to be more economical than some of the caribbean options (airfare from the west coast to the caribbean is silly-expensive).

I'm sure you'll find plenty of advice and insight here.

Welcome to the forum. There are a lot of great places in Riviera Maya, Cabo, and Punta Cana. Most of the places we looked at, had a wedding cordinator on site so that shouldn't be a problem for you. There are some travel agents that specialize in destination weddings, they help with wedding cordinating. You might want to check them out. Goodluck to you!

Welcome to the forum. My turn for the shameful plug....I am getting married in Ocho Rios, Jamaica at Beaches Boscobel, a child and single friendly resort. Down the street is Beaches' sister company, Sandals, a couples only resort. I have some single guests and my daughter at Beaches for a few days, then my FI and I are honeymooning at Sandals. We also have some friends staying at Sandals who we will be able to spend some time with after the wedding. Anywoo, just to give you an idea of cost:

2 people at Sandals

Saturday thru Wednesday

Flying from NC

$2500ish

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
