I didnt have an official welcome dinner but what we didi do is make resos for everyone for the first night at a resterant, then the next few days pp did what they wanted, then we has xmas dinner all together and a few small groups in between .

There wasnt too mush of an issue getting a table for 26 as long as we were calling ahead and open to which resterant and time- fyi to make a reso you need at least 75% of peoples room numbers to book they ask for them or they wont book you in.

and the mammee bay steak house is really good.

See below...

I heard that a bowl of rum punch is available after the ceremony, Is this free or is there a charge? We provide rum punch and fruit punch at the ceremony at no additional cost.

the wedding was awesome!
Chandlyn was very helpful. We met with her a few days before, i showed her oics of the type of cake and flowers i wanted.. she took those and showed them to the florist and the baker(wjich she outsourced for us)
We met quickly the day before for a rehearsal. basically it took 5 mins i just wanted everyone to see where they were going and when, she met me in my room adn escorted me to the beach so i knew excatly what to do.
The pastor was great, adn you dont meet him before which is kinda strange. we wrote our own vows which he had no issues reading, he just didnt know what some of the words were like ebb,k and pronounced it wrong- no big deal.
the weather was on and off clouds which kept it from getting too hot and it was not windy.
We had champane served right afterwards on the beach.
then off to pictures, micheal was awesome.
we finally got a suite the day before the wedding which was awesome for the bridesmaids and ladies meeting in my room beforehand.
als great for the wedding night, which however never did get decorated as promised and we didnt get our breakfast in bed as promised.
in all it was great.
we paid for the upgraded flowers, champane, isle runner chair covers, private reception in plantation resterant, special menu, steel drum band at ceremony, mento band at the reception and an outsorced cake, extra flowers. also paid extra to have a dvd made and have hte photog stay and extra hour at 90 usd , everything including the caprice package was 4500 usd.

i will tryed to post some pics but it wants a url and i couldnt figure it out and got fustrated. so tell me how or look on flickr.com my account is colleen.crummy
and the facebook group for riu weddings

everyone who is getting married there will have a great wedding!!!

Very nice Pics!!
I was wondering about the Riu Ocho Rios resort. I've heard that the locals are pushy and everything you do someone has their hand out. Did you find this and did you find the "all inclusive" expensive once you got there and found out there is more money to be spent?

Congratulations Again!! quick question...how many guest did you have? i was wondering about the seating...i'll be having a private reception at the plantation on 6/28/08. I have almost 100 guests and wanted a traditional style reception(i.e. dance floor surrounded by the different tables). Im nervous because i havent seen any pictures like this...everything looks pretty narrow(just a long table, and it looks like the dance floor is far from the tables)i dont know how it's going to pan out for 100 people...arrrggghhh!! please help...i think i'm gonna cry!!

I had the same question. Every pic I see of the Plantation reception seems like it is all long narrow tables that are connected. Can you explain the set-up more?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
