80% - 20% Rule at ROR

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

So I was wondering if any of you had a problem with the 80-20 rule there or if you were fine in terms of number of guests.

I have family in jamaica and I am afraid I might end up over the 20%. Anyone have any recco's on what I should do?

Thanks!

Well Chandlyn is great to work with, I think you should just email her with the # of guests to see if that would be a problem. I had 6 people come from off property I just gave her the name of the guests and she took care of it. Just remember you have to pay 50.00 per guest BEFORE the wedding, at your meeting with Chandlyn when you add them to the guest list. If you dont add them then and they pay at the front desk its 80.00 per guest. If you have that many guests maybe you should look into having your reception at Evita's like Mo did. It might even be cheaper to just have it offsite if you have to pay 50.00 pp anyway just for your guests to get onto the property anyway. Mo said it was pretty reasonalble at Evita's.

I dont think it'll be a problem. The main reason for us having it in Jamaica was for my Grandmother to be there and turns out out about 20 people are coming from her and about 30 are local. Worst case scenario, they will have to pay $80 for a day pass to come onto the property instead of the $50 special discount is what I was told when I called the Riu and spoke to the front desk. You can call too and ask. The number is 1-876-972-2200. Let me know how it goes...

Thanks for asking that question Shenmaat. I am also in the same boat with a lot of our family from JA. The ones that live in Canada and the US know people in JA and so they want to stay by them and then come to the wedding for the day. This is definitely a downfall for me getting married there.

Pls post the response when you get it.

I wouldnt hold my breath when it comes to getting a response from Chandlyn, usually takes about a week or two, which is a little understandable considering the amount of weddings they do there. But its gotten to the point where Im thinking of having a back up plan just in case, would hate for them to come so far and not be able to get in...worst case scenario you might have to pay extra to have them come on....will keep you guys posted when (IF) I get a response from her...

ok so I finally got a response from Chandlyn and I gave her my situation of having 20 stay on the property and about 30 off the property. Basically all she said was that I would have to pay $50USD for the additional guests and I wouldnt have to upgrade my package from the Royal Package to the Caprice....savin money, sounds good to me........Marlon

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
