I'm getting really worried, I didn't do enough research prior to picking out the our resort/place for our wedding but it's too late now. I have heard very little concerning this particular resort and I've searched many different websites.

We couldn't get someone to legally marry us there so we're going to do a symbolic ceremony. I don't know what a symbolic ceremony will encompass, will they allow us to add perhaps the Hand Ceremony? I don't want the ceremony to ultimately be something you'd find in a courthouse for the few friends who've forked over the money to join us.

How can I make it personal when I don't know what the ceremony itself entails?

We are paying for the wedding and at home reception, none of my family will be joining me but all of my fiance's family will be there, I feel like a failure of a bride since we have very little money, I have no family coming to support, and I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm just in that panic mode I think. I want to relax and look forward to this but I am afraid the ceremony is going to be lame and comical (and not in a good way).

Does/did anyone else feel like this? Has anyone seen or been to a wedding at the RIU Palace Mexico?

Thanks,

From the Clueless Lame Bride!

There are several brides on this forum who have gotten married at the Riu. Just do a search for Riu Palace.

I have been there for vacation and we are staying there the week of our wedding. The resort is beautiful. You will no doubt have a lovely wedding.

My cousin and his girlfriend wen to the RIU Palace in Cancun. I know your not referring to this one but she told me that it was awesome. She saw tons of weddings and took pics to show me. She said the symbolic ceremonies were each different. I know the WC's at the RIU take forever to get back to you but they are usually ok. I haven't heard of anyone not loving their wedding at any RIU. I'm sure once your wedding gets closer you can tell the WC what kinds of things you would like to incorporate such as the hand ceremony or the sand ceremony. This should not be a problem. Ultimately they should want to make you happy. Do not feel like a terrible bride, it is hard to plan a DW and that is why this forum is so great, there is a wealth of information to help you. Don't stress your wedding will be beautiful! cheer2.gif

A friend of mine got married 2 years ago at the RIU Palace Mexico - they loved it and had so many wonderful things to say about it that we have chosen to get married at the RIU Palace Riviera Maya (slightly newer property...very similar set ups...I debated between the two resorts forever, but then just decided to go with the other one for variety :)

Awwwh.... I'm sorry to hear that you are so stressed over this. We are getting married at Riu Puerto Vallarta. The WC is Erika. I have emailed her and she usually responds within a week. I've only heard positive feedback from the Riu, so I'm sure your going to have a wonderful wedding. In regards to the symbolic wedding- we are doing the same thing as the legalities of the civic wedding was overwhelming. It's just like the civic wedding. Your guest will not be aware that it is symbolic. You can even sign at the ceremony to give the illusion of your first union. There are plenty options for you to explore.

Continue to review postings and I'm sure you'll find the answer to all your questions. Good luck and if you need anything just post!!!smile159.gif

I'm getting married at the RIU Palace Mexico next week (Feb 7). I've been trying to find someone as well to give me some info before I get there and finalize plans but haven't found anyone yet. When I get back I'll let you know what to expect/look for/problems to avoid.... Hope to hope anyway.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
