Combo wedding/honeymoon or are you going on a separate Honeymoon?

Recommended Posts

We are staying in Riviera Maya for a week - arriving on Thursday, wedding on Sunday, staying thru Thurs, which I think might have been too long? Then hoping to go for a honeymoon with surfing somewhere, but not sure if my FI can get enough time off work yet - so either Costa Rica, Cabo, or Fiji (my preference). Other suggestions are welcome! Although we love Hawaii, we've both been there a bunch of times.

Hopefully he'll find out soon and I can find some sort of deal...

We're combining our wedding and honeymoon into one loooong trip. We're staying for 2 weeks. Everyone in our group will be with us for the first week (getting married mid-week) and then they leave so we can be by yourselves for the second week. We don't know if we're switching hotels for the second half...

We married in Mexico and 2 days after the wedding left and flew to Jamaica.

We wanted to separate our honeymoon from the wedding. Plus, we didn't want to feel obligated to spend time with guests who lingered in Mexico.

Basically we wanted a honeymoon by ourselves away from the people and location we spent the previous week with.

Anything goes though!

  • 3 weeks later...

Some friends had asked me the same question.. and i replied "well I suppose we are going for a weddingmoon"... although the FI wants to go to Japan the following year, seeing as his vacation time is used up for 2008 so we'll call the 2009 Asia trip the honeymoon!! (Does that count? Even if it is a year later?)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
