I had them make the cake and it was awesome. Everyone loved it. Plus, they told me to pick a picture of what I want and send it to them and they will revreate it. They did it exactly the same as the picture. They charge $5 - $8 per person to do that. Maybe you should look into their flavor options and see if there is anything you like.

3$ plus 15% plus the cost of the cake seems really pricey. I agree with Barrie. Our cake was good, and they copied it exactly how I wanted it. That's why I was so annoyed that I never saw it again because I really wanted to just look at it and admire it.

I don't think they think you're crazy, but they know you're a bride, and to them you are money.

I didn't have a podium but i did get a microphone system for the ceremony on the beach. The waves make it tough to hear. I didn't have anything on the pool desck, just up on the terrace. My ceremony was at 7:00 and there were still a lot of people around at the pool. They watched the whole thing from above. I did see a cocktail hour set-up on the pool deck a few days before my wedding. They cl;ose off the area all day so noone can lay out there but there will be people in the pool next to the area. They did a very nice job with the set-up.

hey girls i am back!!!! i have a million things to tell you all!!!

i am only here for a quick few mins and i am trying to upload my photos so maybe by tomorrow i will have some to show you. i am going to have to get cracking on my review.

one thing i did want to answer though - krista - dont bother going outside the westin for your cake. ours was so delicious (and something a little different, we got a traditional mexican tres leches cake) and it looked and tasted great. honestly, none of my guests gave a shit about the dessert, they were having too good of a time dancing. we served flan to the guests for dessert and the wedding cake was just for us two. we asked them to refrigerate the cake after our reception and deliver it to us the next day... we literally sat in our room devouring the cake after they brought it to our room. the guests gobbled up the flan so quickly just so they could get back out on the dance floor.

i will say my trip was not without a few mishaps, but my WC (maira) really came through for me in a HUGE way to make things right. i'll post a couple teaser pics ASAP for you, and i will be working on my review this week to get it up as quickly as possible!!!

i did also see another wedding the day before mine, and it was set up in the same area as steph's ceremony, and the cocktail and reception were on the pool deck. honestly, it is not very private. i took photos AND video to show you all because my suite's balcony was right over the pool deck. im having some computer problems and will try to get that all put online as soon as i can also.

we also did not do speeches at all during our reception and thank god we didnt. our flow was perfect and the DJ took care of being the emcee and announced everything when we needed anything announced.

I see that nobody has posted on this thread for a while. I'm curious what current Westin brides are doing for vendors (i.e. used Westin vendors or contracted separately)? Also, how many hours are people having the photographer and DJ?

It seems in past years that a lot of brides have felt "nickled and dimed" by the Westin. Is anyone currently planning their wedding there feeling this way?

Any advice would be great!

Thanks Meg! We are heading down to Cabo September 2-6 to check everything out. Did you do a site visit beforehand (I apologize if you responded to my PM already but I can't figure out where to pick up those messages).

Where are you having your ceremony/reception?

Can't wait to hear how your wedding goes! It is coming up...

If I think of additional questions (I'm sure I will) I will let you know. Thanks again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
