Westin Los Cabos brides post here!

has anybody been assigned their WC at the Westin yet? Karina still hasnt given me mine because we had some contract issues--we paid our deposit and everything but for some reason karina still hasnt received our signed contract. but i was hoping to get some suggestions as to who yours is if you are happy with them etc etc.

I think my WC is Lorena. She is the one that has been answering my questions. I'm not 100% happy with her, but she has been okay. Since we didn't do a block of rooms, I'm kind of feeling like we're not so important? Does that make sense. Anyway, has Karina been helping you decide on menu? Has she talked to you about anything else vendor wise?

My FMIL sent Karina an email last week telling her that once she assigned me a WC, to tell the WC that they are to carry out whatever wishes I have and to not worry about the cost... so I have the feeling that I am going to be taken care of no matter who she gives me as my WC. But no, Karina has not been helping me with menus or anything. I'm kind of at a standstill until I hear from my WC whoever she assigns to me next week. Karina didnt talk to me about vendors, but apparently she told my FMIL something about paying a fee for outside vendors and my FMIL told her that we were using local cabo vendors and we werent paying the Westin jack to bring them in and that she would agree to that or else we would take the whole wedding and all of our business elsewhere, and we have not had any problems since. I am just so anxious to get my WC assigned so I can get some stuff like the ceremony location figured out and get some questions answered.

I was just wondering if you had your WC assigned to you and how that was going? I have pursued outside vendors, but I haven't told the Westin. I'm just wondering how they will respond.

Just wondering how everyone has come along with planning? We have made some progress with ours.

 

We decided to go with Cabo flowers for flowers. Garrit from Mango Deck recommended them to me, and she has quoted me decent price. Now we have to decide canopy or not? They're so pretty, but so expensive.

 

We'll have a cocktail hour with some passed appetizers to appease my mom. She's not happy about us having an open bar for 3 hours, but she really wants appetizers for cocktail hour, so it seems like as long as we do appetizers for cocktail hour, she'll stop continually questioning me about the open bar.

 

We've gone with the sea bass and orange and mustard pork tenderloin plated dinner.

 

Still not sure about wine/champagne.

 

We had a make-up lesson last weekend, and I think we will do our own make-up.

 

Still not sure about the cake, but it will be chocolate with rasberry filling.

 

Our invites our out, and things are coming together.

hey steph sorry ive been kinda MIA lately because of work. no, i still dont have a WC yet. karina passed me along to maira gallegos the group reservations director, and she said a week ago they were in the process of "reviewing my file" to assign me a WC. WTF. well, i was annoyed because my deposit has been down for several weeks and they still havent assigned me anyone. i was talking to maira via email about our options for having the ceremony on the grounds of the westin since the church isnt happening, and originally karina had told my FMIL that we could have it anywhere on the grounds we wanted at no extra cost. well, FI and i like the yellow foyer of arricefes, so i asked maira if we could do it there. and she emails back saying that yes, but its an additional $10,000 buyout fee!!!!! oh hell no. so i forwarded the email to my FMIL and she was going to call to bitch them out. they try to take advantage of everyone, whether your american or mexican. my FMIL does not like when people mess with us like this, and she assured me that if we want to have the ceremony there, we wont be paying any extra.

i was so pissed because in my email to maira, i told her we do not want to use the beach for the ceremony, my fiance hates sand and doesnt want to do it on the beach. (yes im totally serious, he would literally throw his dress shoes away if he had to walk on the sand with them...his mom has a hilarious photo of him at the beach as a toddler and he is touching sand and making a grotesque face like he hates it haha) i said we want it to be private, and it cant be on the sand. and what does she reply? oh, well you can do it on the terrace or on the beach. what a dumb ! can you believe it. and i correspond with them in spanish so its not like theres a language barrier!

so i should hopefully have a WC after my FMIL talks to karina and tells her whats what. im just so tired of feeling like theyre trying to take advantage of me. and everytime they try, i tell my FMIL and she deals with them and the problem goes away. but still, what a PITA! sorry i just had to rant about that.

10,000? That's is insane! Oh my. You know, that's how I have felt with them too. I feel like this giant dollar sign. Let met know what happens after your FMIL talks to them. I'm interested to hear how they respond. It's not right. I had contact with Maira briefly, and then they passed me on to Lorena. I just sent pics of the type of cake I'm interested in, so I can't wait to see the quote.

well, no word yet from my FMIL. but i trust she's working on it.
