Hi there - We're new to the forum and are trying to work with Karina on initial pricing. I've read most of the thread here and feel like the pricing we've been given by Karina is much different and much higher than what's been expressed by everyone here. Can you ladies give your thoughts?

BEACH CEREMONY:

Wooden avantgarde chairs: US$ 14 each

White aisle runner: US$ 100

Hoopa with fabric and flowers: US$750

Flower petals: US$ 60 per dozen

Flower sachets: US$ 50 each

RECEPTION

Wooden avantgarde chairs: US$ 14 each

Rent specially-colored linens: aprox US$ 35 each (price may vary depending on final selection)

CAKE

$12 US$ per person

We had originally signed with a different Starwood property in the Caribbean (and they know that) so I feel like they're trying to take advantage of us. Can you all help? thanks!!!

Hi - proper introduction from you first please, such as your names, the date you are planning to get married at the westin, etc etc, so we know who we are talking to.

I honestly can't help you with these prices - my MIL is paying for my reception so I haven't seen the BEOs with any prices listed on them because she doesnt want me to worry about what it's costing. Perhaps some of the other gals can chime in though. I do know that the white avant guarde chairs and specialty linens have to be rented from outside the westin, so they are going to charge you an arm and a leg for them. ANYTHING that has to be rented from outside the westin, just assume there's about a 500% markup. the very few things i was involved in with my reception of knowing how much something cost (i.e. centerpieces), any time i wanted anything that had to be rented, it was ridiculously priced. its best to use stuff they have in-house because its way cheaper, and in some cases, no charge at all.

for the cake, please realize that everyone gets quoted a different price - it all depends on the number of guests you have and the style of cake you want. so cant really help you there without more details from you. if you are unhappy with the cake price, you dont have to get the cake from the westin. you can order it from someone like jen hatton.

I'm getting married at the church so i never asked them for ceremony decor prices. We are having our reception at the Westin and the cake is much cheaper then 12$/person. It's funny cuz our guy gave us a price for the cake before even seeing our cake. You can alwasy bargain as well. i did that on a few things and ended up saving in some areas. Like Maura said for the chairs they will charge an arm and a leg for things like that. They wants the same price for tiffany chairs so i decided just to go with whats included ( white covered chairs) i'm adding yellow ties to the chairs but it's not that much $'s. Good luck!

If you go with chairs that the Westin has, they will not charge you a rental fee. They can cover them in white and will add a bow. They tell you your color options to choose from. The linens are also included if you select from their color options on site. I did pay $100 for a white runner, $50 per dozen rose petals, and $8 per person for the cake. The cake price depends on how many people and what your dinner selection is. I paid $610 for a chuppa with flowers but it depends on the amount of flowers you want.

Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please let me know.

none to my knowledge, unless my MIL arranged for something without me knowing - we are only doing the thing at the church at noon with our parents, none of our guests are coming to the church and they dont even know about it.

the guests will only attend our big ceremony at the westin on the beach, and we've got the banquet chairs with white covers and a white aisle runner with rose petals. then my FMIL got two floral arrangements for the "altar" on the beach, one for each side, made with white calla lillies and who knows what else. i wasnt involved at all in picking it out, i just told her i trusted her taste and asked her to pick whatever she liked. so i dont have any photos of floral arrangements at all, sorry!

omg i know, my MIL is such a saint! i cant wait, we leave for cabo 3 weeks from today!

dont worry, i will write the most thorough review of everything that i can possibly do. i already have a plan on how im going to do it LOL i started an outline of all the things i need to review so that i can do it on our plane ride home. i think we are going to end up taking a laptop with us to load photos from our flashcards, so i will be able to type up my reviews on the way home and then post as soon as i get back LOL

OHHHH by the way.... for those of you girls who are only having your reception at the westin, please realize that you will automatically be charged higher rates for everything than those of us who have a huge room block reserved. my group was required to book a minimum of 10 rooms, and we far surpassed that - i got the final list of guest reservations yesterday from karina, and we have a total of 28 rooms booked (which accounts for about 55 of our guests, and a total of 89 nights' stays between all of our guests, the avg guest is staying about 3 nights just FYI)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
