OH! btw forgot to mention after i bitched about the cake price, they reduced the price from $250 for a 3 tier cake to $50 for a 2 tier cake.

ALSO - i was NOT told about the infinity pool or la playa being closed for a few weeks, but probably because my wedding is in august this doesnt effect me

Hi Girls!

I'm back! I can't believe we've been gone 2 weeks. It seems more like 2 days.

Everything was beautiful! I'll write more later. I need to decompress, but regarding the pool. It was one of the first things we noticed, so Barrie, we had our reception at the terrace, and it was really nice. There is a firepit there and the set-up really turned out nice. I really, really liked having the firepit there.

The closed pool didn't seem to cause any issues at all. I think most people hang out at the pool bar at the Westin anyway. There are also pools located in the Club Regina, where we stayed. The Club was absolutely perfect.

We had a few issues with the cake and Transcabo! If anyone has booked them. they are going to screw you! There is something going on with taxi unions and Transcabo. I had booked them for our welcome dinner Saturday night. I called to confirm, and they told me they weren't coming! It was madness! I think I have lost over $600 from them. They have royally screwed me. Will write more about this later too.

Congrats!!! I am so happy for you both. I can't wait to hear all the details your wedding. Post some pics too! I am glad you liked your reception on the Terrace. I have viewed pictures and the fire pit looks very cool. Were there construction walls up around the pool before you left? Was it an eye sore? We were also worried about overcrowding around the other pools.

We are leaving on the 25th.

The terrace the Maura has a picture of is actually the terrace right above the Bugambilias.

Bradley, who I have to say is AWESOME!, has given me a gallery of online photos. I can't believe we already have professional pics.

I'll write a review on another thread sometime later and post more pics.

The cake turned into a bit of cake drama. I had told Lorena the day before that the cake should be offered to guests, but because we chose to have an additional dessert, not a lot of people would want cake. I also told her we would do cake cutting at 5:30, during cocktail hour.

We get to cocktail hour, do our cake cutting, and they whisked the cake away, never to be seen again! It was a beautiful cake, and I was really looking forward to admiring eat, and eating it throughout the week. I thought they would bring it back after they took it away when the weather cooled, but they never did.

The next day, I called the Westin to have our cake delivered. I was expecting the whole cake, with the top tier, and the beautiful coral white chocolate topper. Well, 4 hours later, they deliver the bottom half of the cake with no cake topper, and no top layer. I called and asked Lorena where our cake was because this wasn't our cake? She says, the banquet manager cut the top layer of our cake the night before, and offered cake to everyone (which never happened, I asked everyone, and people were wanting cake), but nobody accepted. A full on lie. I''m still annoyed over the situation, and I'm annoyed with their lies. That is the cake drama, and I'm sad I never was able to really enjoy our cake.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
