maira sent me the contact info and website of the DJ they want me to use and he seems totally totally lame!!!! i dont want to use this guy, and his website really really sucks. compared to other cabo djs who have websites that i have seen.

although after much bitching about the poor service i was receiving from maira, all of a sudden she has been good about emailing me what i ask for within a day or so.

Well, good news about Maira. She must've had a talking to! Bad news about the DJ, but it seems like you could tell them how totally lame he seems and you want other choices. They're their to make sure you completely happy. It just doesn't seem right to have to go through them for a lame DJ. Music is really important!

so jose emailed a couple other djs and already Ricardo Patiño wrote back with a quote of $225 an hour (plus we'd have to pay the $150 to use a non-Westin DJ)...still cheaper than what the Westin wants to charge us at $280/hour for a DJ, even when you factor in the $150.

one thing though -- how late did they tell you your reception could go? jose had mentioned to the dj something about the possibility of him staying until around 4 am and i called jose immediately and was like uh, no, the westin will shut us down way way earlier than that. i just cant remember how early they said. now he is flipping out and wants to cancel our wedding at the westin again because its "unacceptable for people to fly in from so far away for them to tell us we cant have music past 11" huh.gif what did they tell you guys about how late you could have music?

I'm in contact with them right now and think that this is where i'm also having my wedding reception (Almost done the contract with Juan- one of the coordinator). We were told 10:30 pm for shut off time but we asked for 11pm and it's ok with him. They also gave us the ok to use Ricardo P as our Dj.

Yes, I know. My mom has been helping me out with the contract and they can never get it right! Very annoying! I like the resort though, very nice. Looking at the menu now, did you pick your reception meal yet?

I think our wedding will be in October.

yes, always check everything they send you back extremely carefully, and save every single email you exchange with them so if you get overcharged you can go back and say "actually, on XYZ date, we agreed on this price"

we did recently just set our menu finally. if you PM me with your email address, I will send you what we chose.

have you chosen a photographer yet?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
