Hi there! We booked for MP through a travel agent but so far we have gotten all the deals on the palace website - Like the $400 passport package - We get FREE tours to all the places that MP offers to go - there are like 6 boatrides/waterpark/shopping trips and everything - I bet if you ask your TA about it she/he would include it - that is what we did anyway!! Good Luck!

Betsey - I just came back from Moon Palace in November. Just an FYI on the passport with the trips. The trips, yes, they are free however, the only downside is that the trips put you in a situation that if you don't end up spending more money, you will find that you are left to hang for several hours. For example, we took the boat to Isla Mujeres. The boat was fun and they passed beer around. It was about a 45 minute ride. When you got to Isla Mujeres, they left you at Isla Mujeres Palace. There was nothing to do there but lay in hammocks and hang out at their very tiny pool. You could however spend a couple hundered dollars and go swimming with the dolphins and some other costly things to do. So, we hung around Isla Mujeres Palace for about 2 hours. Then the boat took us to another part of Isla Mujeres where the shops are. You are given a blue bracelet so you are completely attacked by the vendors. All in all it was ok, but I thought I was going to get way more out of this trip.

Then, I was so excited to go on the snorkeling trip. I did not end up going because a couple in our party had already gone and forwarned us that the snorkeling was only 45 minutes and then if you did not purchase the zip lining for $80 or other things to do, the boat (not a real catamaran) stayed docked in an area for 3 hours with nothing to do in site.

I later found out that everyone that gets the Passport is really "talked into" going on these trips because Apple, RCI, etc. all get commission if you go, because they end up selling you these other excusions.

So, I just wanted to let you know about this ahead of time. Just plan ahead and bring extra money with you on these excursions. I am sure the dolphin swimming and zip lining, etc. is a lot of fun, I just had not budgeted for the extra costs so I was a little disappointed. If you have any questions about Moon Palace or anything PM me. My sister and best friend got married there and I went to both weddings.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
