Hello everyone,

My name is Kellie... and I thought I would finally introduce myself. I'm just newly engaged, and I've been reading quite a few of the threads and I can't believe all the good advice and useful information everyone posts... I can feel myself somewhat relaxing already...

We're thinking of a Cabo or Mayan wedding in October 2008. I've spoken to a few travel agents and most look at me like I'm crazy to think so far in advance. They say I can't book anything until August - and that seems too late!! I want to give my guests as much time as possible to plan and save....

Any ideashuh.gif

Thanks....

Welcome! I know how you feel, I do think this site has helped keep me sane while planning my destination wedding. I am getting married in Puerto Vallarta, but there are sooo many halpful girls on this site getting married in both Cabo (tons of brides!), and also RM. You're definitely in the right spot.

I just started my planning not too long ago - and I am getting married in June 2007. So you definitely have plenty of time - but there are many brides on here getting married in 2008, but I don't know if they're gone so far as to book anything yet. I'm sure they'll help you! Feel free to ask any questions you have!

Welcome. Wow a bride that is even planning a wedding in farther advance than mine. Yipee. We are planning a May 2008 and I started researching a couple months ago. Good for you.

Silly Travel Agents, this isnt just a vacation its your wedding ofcourse you want to start getting prepared for it.

Let us know how we can help. Plenty of information on both Cabo and RM, and they are both buetiful spots.

Good luck

You girls are wonderful.... It's just so crazy not having an 'official' date. We also want to have a cocktail party at home after the wedding - and booking a venue for that is tough because we have to book so far in advance - it looks like we have to book this January for all of 2008 - especially to get the date we want.

Regardless, it looks like we'll just have to guestimate a date for our wedding... and have the cocktail party a few weeks after...

Welcome Kellie! I wish I had started planning earlier actually. And the reason isn't what you think! The thing is that planning the wedding - especially will all the great people and help I got from this board - is so much FUN! I always thought it was going to be awful but the more I'm doing it the more I love it... I'll have to come up with some new hobbies after my June '07 wedding!

The only thing I wouldn't do is buy a dress for awhile. I think there's been a lot of people who bought their dress early and then got sick of it by the time the wedding came along! That is unless you find THE dress... that's another story entirely!

Welcome Kelli, take it from a "serial" planner (I started planning approx.2yrs. out) it's never too early to plan. Investigate, get reviews, compare pricing. Heck, book the smaller vendors (cake, video, etc.) at this years pricing!!!

I agree with Tammi, most travel agents don't understand the importance of early notification. True, many hotels can't give rates but they can give you estimates, confirm dates, and give you there list of services. By being ahead of the game you have the pick of dates, catering managers are often more flexible, and you can SAVE to pay for the big day.

Both locations you have selected have plenty of options. Cabo has become so popular, Mayan area may be a better bargain.

Good luck to you!

P.S. Instead of a save the date, mail out a we're engaged card stating your DW intentions. This will allow potential guests to get in the mind frame that they will have to save for a trip.

Welcome Kellie...I c ur from Barrie YAY Canada WooHoo another Canadian....Ive noticed that booking in Canada is different than the states and most prices for us aren't up until about 8 months prior to the date...were limited when it comes to flights until the U.S where that's not a problem...I booked all my wedding stuff I believe in October for may 2007....

let me know if i can help u out in anyway or if you have any questions...good luck with the planning

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
