Dreams Tulum in July

I'm contemplating DT, too, and in July or August. Does anyone know if the chapel is air conditioned? If I'm doing the ceremony in the late afternoon/early evening, I'm afraid my guests might melt in the heat...

When we were there in July for our wedding I went inside the chapel to look around and it was definitely not airconditioned in there. It was hot hot hot. I would imagine that they can do something to get the air moving if need be for a wedding.

Lisa....... I was looking at the photos from your room and noticed something. The color of the pool is almost identical to the ocean. That is so cool. It had to have been a conscious decision on their part for the color of the bottom of the pool . Most of them are like a dark blue like the older pool there, but the one outside of the room you were in is that light blue/green of the shallow parts of the ocean there.

Sorry for the tangent. I just thought that it was neat.

Hi and welcome! My husband Jason posted before me. Anyhoo, to answer some of your questions:

~Did you use the resort photographer or are you planning on it?

We hired an outside photographer Vannssa Vargas who was absolutely wonderful. She did great work and was reasonably priced.

~Did you have a private reception? is it worth spending extra $ on?

We didn't have any guests so we just had a private luncheon for 2 on the beach after the ceremony. The staff seem to be so accomodating. I'm sure they can put together anything you have in mind within reason.

~Did you stay in the honeymoon suite or a regular room? is it worth the extra $ for the honeymoon suite?

We stayed in an ocean view jr. suite which I believe was an upgrade. It was huge, lavish, and suited our needs.

~Did you/are you planning on getting married on the beach or in the chapel? ~If you have gotten married there already and you were married on the beach is it right infront of everyone at the resort or semi-private? Can you request it semi-private? maybe move it down the beach a little?

We got married on the beach at 10:30 am near the dive shop. There were a few bystanders but not too many. I didn't notice until I heard clapping after we kissed. I think it's hard to avoid but didn't take away from our experiance. Sandra took us on a little tour when swe got there to show us our choice of ceremony sites.

We really had a wonderful experiance at Dreams and had the wedding of our dreams there. lol. no pun intended.

We got married on November 23, 2007 at Dreams Tulum.......

We did use the resort photographer and as pp mentioned, he did a very good job for a "resort photographer" - we were more than satisfied with our pictures. That being said - the coverage provided in the package is only a couple of hours - he did a few before ceremony shots, the ceremony & then a few posed shots after the ceremony. We ended up with 200 pics (which we bought on CD for about $350USD). If you are considering paying for extra coverage, you might as well look at outside photographers in my opinion.

~Did you have a private reception? is it worth spending extra $ on?

We did not pay for a private reception - we were supposed to have our reception on the beach but due to the weather conditions, we were moved to the wine cellar in Portofino which ended up being completely private.

~Did you stay in the honeymoon suite or a regular room? is it worth the extra $ for the honeymoon suite?

We ended up being upgraded to a Junior Suite for free - it was in the Dreams section (newer) and it was beautiful! We were in the building closest to our ceremony location which was an added bonus! Other guests stayed in Garden View Rooms in the Hacienda section and they were maybe a little older but still very nice in my opinion.

We got married on the beach by Seaside Grill. They did move the beach chairs back a bit but we still had a full audience of people eating at the Seaside Grill & people in bathing suits on beach chairs. It did bother me a little but I didn't specifically request a private/semi-private ceremony so I can't really complain.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
