Wedding Party Issues

Recommended Posts

My BMs were pretty good about asking what they could help me with but there really wasn't much since they live far from me, other than getting their dresses (which was a task in itself). They took it upon themselves to plan a shower, and otherwise hung back and waited for me to ask for help.

My MOH actually bought a book on "how to be a MOH"...lol She was great about handling conflicts that arose so I didn't have to deal with them. Some of my BMs checked in once a month which is fine, but when you are on a 24/7 obsession it may seem they don't care. Most of them do. I agree that they may not know what to do and instead of asking they are waiting for you to ask them.

Tell your party what you could use help with, chances are they care and feel honored to be asked, but aren't being proactive because the process is new to them too.

What I've found is that most of my BMs, my mom, and especially my FI think it is so far away and we have so much time. When I was stressing over OOT bags, raffia fans, cake toppers and everything else last summer and fall, they all thought I was nuts. Now, as the wedding is getting closer, they are all helping and asking about it a lot more. Maybe as it gets closer to the wedding, they will start thinking about it more?

Also, every time I've been a BM, I never knew what I should be doing. So, I agree with some of the other girls, maybe if you gave them a task, that would be a way to get them more involved and excited.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I really appreciate them. I have tried to give them the info but maybe I will wait until it gets closer. I think everything will be finished by then though. We are at 6.5 months left and everything is done except; vows and OOT bags(which will be done soon). I also gave a list of things to get done to my FI and he said that he will help with anything, at least I am making progress with someone. Thank you though everyone its so nice to have someone to vent to.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
