What do you think of this knock-off?

Recommended Posts

I've tried on the original and it looked great (I actually never though this mermaid-y style would look good on me). I'm just nervous that the knock-off (which I can't try on) won't look good.

A lot of bridal shops won't let you take pictures... I wonder if ML will if I go in and say that they're for my mom... and that I can't buy anything without her opinion (of course I went with my mom to try the original on).

Jenetta - which vendor is making your dress? Send us a link!

Kash--

Have you ML sneak a picture of you in the dressing room. Send the sales assistant off to get another style or something and take a few pictures.

Then take it to a dress maker to have it made. I think that is the best idea!

If you look in the yellowpages, you can usually find a bridal dress maker in your area. Go meet with her (or him), have them show you pictures of their work, show them your picture. The good thing about having dresses made is that the alterations and all fittings are included ing the price. Alterations are expensive! Plus you can pic the fabric (touch & feel it) first and pick everything out. I think this is your best bet. If you are going to take this route, you should get on it pretty quickly!

I think you may be right! Natasha gave me the name of a dressmaker here in Studio City near where I work. I need to go take some secret pics! Good point about the alterations being included. The other thing I think might be better is that I think I can ask them to change things when stuff doesn't look right or fit the same...

I wonder if the dressmaker could "swing by" a store that carries it and pretend to be browsing and just check it out... hmmmmm.....

hee hee hee... not a bad idea!

The designer is having a sample sale this weekend and their samples are 40 - 80% off. IF they have the dress and IF it's in my size and IF it's 80% off then I'll buy it! Otherwise I may have to start using some of our deceitful tactics!

I know! I am terrified that when I go to the sample sale it's going to be this crazy b*tch-fest with people clawing and biting... yikes!

Well they let only 30 people in at a time so maybe it won't be TOO bad!

Yuck - I hate this type of thing. But like Ann said, "A brides gotta do do what a brides gotta do!"

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
