Riu Ocho Rios vs Negril

Recommended Posts

I'm getting married at Club Negril. I was nervous b/c everyone else seems to be picking OR!! Good to see another Riu Negril bride! :) I chose Negril b/c I was told the beaches are better. It's too bad they don't have as many excursions though!

So, ask nicely and you shall receive. I sent an email to Riu Ocho Rios and asked if there were any openings during the week we are there... low and behold, there is an opening! I think our decision has been made. Thanks everyone for your help and opinions. I'm totally looking forward to (re)starting the planning!

I'm not sure if this was directed at me but I'll answer anyway! I haven't spoken to anyone other than the confirmation that our date is in fact available and that was via email. I went through the other steps to confirm my date and that is where we stand. I haven't made any requests for a reception because I wasn't planning on paying extra to have a private reception, semi-private and free is fine with me!

Mostly everyone getting married in Jamaica is getting married at Riu. Anyone know anything about The "Beaches Resorts" in Jamaica. I was told they have great wedding packages. They also allow kids, which we will have coming. We were originally planning on Dreams Cancum or Dreams Tulum, but the travel agents feel that weddings are easier to have in Jamaica.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Carly is getting married at Beaches Boscobel. There should be a thread about it in the Jamaica section. Here you go: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t7327

Why did you pick Riu Ochos Rios? It looks beautiful! You must be very excited.
I went back and forth between the Riu and Beaches. Beaches has a lot for kids, which is great, but the only 2 kids coming are my nephews (ages 3 and 8 ). We picked Riu because of it's size (we have almost 100 guests), I loved the pictures and reviews and the fact that it has 7 different bars, the cocktail dispensers in the room and 24 hour service (a lot of people coming are big late night drinkers).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
