Any other Riu brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Jolene - you're so not alone there!!!

I too received my confirmation regarding the judge in just less than a couple weeks after getting my reference number. I was told that after that was all done I'd hear from my WC. I didn't hear anything for several weeks so I sent an e-mail asking who my WC will be so that I can start sending her our ideas. I got a pretty quick response saying the WC usually doesn't contact you until a couple months before your wedding date. I've come to accept that once I accept that Riu runs on their own schedule and I actually don't have to work everything out that far ahead of time I will be a lot better off. I've relaxed now and just tell myself that "it'll all work out."

Yeah i got that email too. I sent a few emails with some questions, and they assured me each time that the wedding coordinator will take care of everything, and they will contact me for more details within 2 months before the ceremony.

I still havent received any emails about my contract tho - apparently 6 mths before they send you a contract? im at 6 mths & 1 week till my day.....i wonder if i will be getting anything soon....i dont want to harass them lol!

Really? I hadn't heard that. My wedding is less than 6 months away and I haven't received a contract. Hmmm... Should I be concerned?

I know what you mean about feeling like you're harassing them though! It's just hard b/c I find that I want a lot of reassurances since I can't go there in person to talk to anyone.

I am getting married at RIU Palace Las Americas in Cancun in about a month and a half. I asked the WC if I needed to sign a contract, and she said not to worry....we will do that when we arrive. I was a little freaked out at first, but now I am thinking that I will be picking the cake, flowers, and some other details when I get there. So, maybe I can't sign a contract if we are still deciding on what to add to the wedding...does that make sense? Should you still ask for a contract regardless? What details should be on it?

I am going to dive in and send the Save the DAtes! Hopefully Riu will contact me soon about the reception. Blood tests? Do any of you know if blood tests will be given at Riu. I know that Dreams arranges this for their couples, I was hoping that RIu did as well.

Okay, I'm deciding not to worry about the contract. We have the confirmation so I think that's enough. Jen, I agree that it probably makes more sense to sign after you've decided on all the extras which doesn't happen until you're down there.

As for the blood test, we're doing a legal ceremony and we've been told that the resort has it's own doctor that they just send up to your own room for him to take you and your FI's blood. I've talked to a girl who got married there and she said the whole thing worked smoothly and the dr. was great

  • 3 weeks later...

Hey, are any of you guys planning a welcome dinner at your Riu resort? I'm just trying to figure out if I need to make a reservation (there'll be about 12 of us) and if so how on earth I go about doing that from here. I'm just putting together my invites and want to include something about a welcome dinner b/c i think it's a nice touch, but I have no idea how to go about planning one.

I just emailed the WC and asked her if she could make reservations for us at the steak house. I'll let you know what she says. I wanted to put info on the welcome dinner in my welcome letter aswell. Hopefull this works b/c it would save a lot od money, rather than hosting a welcome dinner!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
