Any other Riu brides out there?

Recommended Posts

I'm waiting on communication from the Riu Palace Riviera Maya, thinking this may be the one, but no idea if they have my date or anything yet, and have not seen any pictures other than what is on the site...anybody got any that they can share?

This is so great that we are all doing this at the same time.

So, if I follow MexicoBride's advice, of having some guests stay at the Yucatan because it is cheaper, then I have to pay for them to attend the wedding? Not a big deal at all. But they can come over to the palace for meals and such right? They are allowed to share the facilities, correct?

Thanks.

Wow, I don't visit the forum for a couple of days and look at what happens! I don't really have much to add that's any different from what everyone else has said. It took a while to get in touch with someone at the hotel, but I did eventually and basically they told me that all the planning is done once you arrive. I only have 3 weeks until we leave so everything is being kicked up into high gear. From what I understand at least 80% of the guests have to be staying at the resort where the ceremony is to be held otherwise there is a fee involved. For my resort, RPLA the fee is $100 for the day pass. Hope everyone's planning is going well. Congratulations and welcome to all the new Riu brides to be!

I am soooo excited, but then again, I'm so busy right now I don't really have time to think about it! I will definitely let everyone know how it went as soon as I get back.

RPLA=Riu Palace Las Americas, Cancun.

Hopefully things will slow down in the next few days and I'll have time to catch up on reading the postings and participating in the conversations!

Hi ladies,

I am getting married at RIU Cancun on May 10, 2007. I have only received one email from the generic 'riuwedding.com' that gave my a list of the required documents, but I have not idea where to start getting them translated and apostilled. I know many of you suggest a legal ceremony in the states before you go, but our date is sentimental to us, so we would really like to have it done in Mexico. Are there any posts about where to go and what to do to get the required documents?

Thanks!!

Riu Brides,

I found this forum that's all about the different Riu's. Some wedding pictures from brides at the various Rius and a ton of information from Riu lovers.

Hope this helps!

Magsie Mexico-

The Yucatan guests are not allowed on the more expensive properties (the Palace Mexico and the Palace Riviera Maya) unless they pay the day pass. However, you are allowed onto their properties if you want to visit them, eat there or use their pools, etc. We are going to have our welcome dinner at the Yucatan so everyone can go. You can also meet up with them on the beach, at the other Rius (Playacar, Tequila, etc), downtown PDC, excursions, etc.

Hi,

I just joined this site and already really appreciate all the information posted from other Riu brides out there. I'm getting married at the Riu Palace Mayan Riviera in August 2007 (assume I ever hear back from the wc...). Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions on dresses for a ceremony in the gazebo? I love satin, but I have heard that satin just isn't right for the beach. Thoughts? Also, has anyone ever been to Mexico in August? (both my fiance and I have NEVER been!!!) Do I need to wear a very light dress to prevent sweating to death?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed!

Hi Shelly,

Congratulations!

I totally understand you about being overwhelmed. I just went through my own little panic/stress/anxiety attack. The only advice I can give you is not to worry b/c it will all come out beautifully in the end. Good luck AND HAVE FUN with your planning. Please let us know if we can help in any way. This formum has been fantastic when it comes to easing my mind.

I've just confirmed my date and time with the Riu but I don't know what to do next? Do I email the WC? or wait for her to get in touch with me? any suggestions?

Aimee.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
