Dreams Cancun reception location pics

still debating between the garden and the terrace. I'm leaning more towards the terrace because we will have a small group and I may just do the one long table. But the garden is so pretty. I wish there wasn't so much wind because the beach would be such a great place for a reception!

When I did my site visit I saw a wedding set up on the terrace and I thought it was even nicer than the garden for a few reasons...

1. There is protection from the wind and if it gets chilly at night, people can move inside.

2. The lighting was soo beautiful in the lobby....they had all these candle looking lights and it just looked soo romantic.

3. Any of your ladies in heels can easily walk around without worrying about sinking into the grass

4. There is a full bar right there in the lobby which is really convenient.

I think we are going to have our cocktail hour on the terrace and our recpetion in world cafe. Its soo nice in there with all the lights on the palms and I am getting married in January and the nights are just too chilly to have a beach reception. Plus...weather does not become a factor, which means less stress for me. I figure that all of my guests will be able to enjoy the grounds all week...why make them freeze on the beach for the reception!

You say that you are having your coctail hour at the terrace, and the dinner in world cafe. Are you having to pay extra for the service in the restaurant? What package are you going with?
We have seriously discussed the idea of just doing a coctail hour and then move on to the restaurant instead of the "reception dinner" included in the package available....

When we did our site visit with Claudia, she told us that the World Cafe was available for private receptions on Tuesday and Fridays. Apparently they shut down the buffet and offer themed dinners outside near the pool on those nights. We will be paying per head for the reception, just like you would at any of the outdoor sites or the ballroom. Like I said before, we are getting married in January and it does get chilly at night, so we really wanted to have an indoor reception so our guests were comfortable and could really enjoy themselves. We weren't crazy about the ballrooms (I must say that we saw them set up for a buisness meeting so it might have influenced our opinion a bit) and we thought the World Cafe was really nice. At night they have white lights around the palm trees and it was a really nice set up. If you haven't been there....it's a two level resturant, so we think are going to have the tables set up on one level and then do a little lounge area with the dance floor on the other.

I have pics of the terrace and spa reception set up (as well as tons of site pics including the world cafe). PM me with your email if you want to see them! The spa set up is really nice...very private and beautiful. But it only holds 50 people (we have 80) and it isn't available until 7, so you need to have a late ceremony or a big break. We also noticed (when we spied on a wedding reception in the spa) that they turn on the tennis court lights after 8 so the flourecent light lights up the spa too. It was ashame because it really had a romantic candle lit look before the lights turned on.

Hope this helps!

I believe we are going with the terrace option. I only have about 25 people coming to Cancun. When I was last there, I saw the tables set up for a reception and it was very nice. I am going to bring more candle holders and votives because I think the table will be more intimate. It's absolutely beautiful back there.

The beach is really nice but I worry about weather (I'm in January) and the wind. If the wind kicks up, even a little, everyone is going to be blasted with sand...not the best for a sit down dinner. But....the receptions are so pretty and if you do get lucky and get a perfect night, the beach is definitely the best place. I just am a worrywort and I would be nervous about the weather and wind the whole time. I am already anxious about it raining for the ceremony! I went to a tented ceremony/reception in the outerbanks two years ago and it rained so hard the wind was blowing the rain into the tent. It was horrrible and uncomfortable for all the guests. There were huge puddles everywhere and I ruined a brand new pair of $80 cream pants in the mud!! They had no back up plan at the site..so we were just stuck wet and cold. That probably is the reason I worry about weather so much, so don't listen to me!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
