Boutonnière or none?

Recommended Posts

My FI will be wearing a suit so he will have a boutonniere, but the GMs will be wearing linen shirts with no jackets. I was thinking either no boutonnieres for the GMs or some sort of lei that is made with just greenery.

What have others done or plan do do for grooms or gms who are not wearing jackets?

Also, do you think I can get away with a lei in Mexico or is that too Hawaiian?

My DH wore a suit and had a boutinniere, his GM's had on white linen shirts and DH did not want them to wear flowers, he did not like the look of it, so the guys went with nothing. No one even noticed. DH was just against the flowers for the men for some reason, so I let him have his way :)

I am just now beginning to think about this...FI will also be wearing a suit and he doesn't want a boutinere..but I think we will get him one. I am thinking that our one groomsmen will not have one. He too will be wearing just the linen pants and shirt w/ no jacket... so I don't think it' necessary.

Only my FI will be wearing a suit (well, and my dad). I have decided that Shawn will be the only one wearing a bout. My dad has a tie instead. And then the boys will just be wearing white shirts and I don't think a bout would stay nicely on the shirts... not to mention that's just more I have to pay for. And since they'd be pink roses I think the boys are happy not to wear them :)

When you mean your dad has a tie instead do you mean that your fi won't be wearing a tie?? I ask because my FI doesn't really want to wear a tie but he will be wearing a suit and I'm okay with it but I just wasn't sure how it would look??

Yup, that's what I mean. Shawn will have a white shirt underneath the suit with it unbuttoned at the top. We tried it on when we purchased his suit and it looked really nice.

I wore a shirt and pants, no jacket. Had a boutineierre but wish I hadn't... Groomsmen also did shirt and pant, untucked. No flowers for them...

If I did it again, and hopefully I never will, I'd blow it off... First off, they didn't attach it that well, so it was a pain in the ass to keep straight. Second of all, I don't think that it was really necessary.

Guess it's just a matter of personal preference...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
