Homemade Pizza?

For those of you who make your own pizza, what kind of crust do you use? I ususally use Boboli (sp?) because it is easy. Is there a good raw dough you make or buy, or do you also use Boboli?

We're having a make-your-own pizza party with all kinds of fun toppings :o)

Homemade pizza is the best. We had a pizza party a couple weeks ago and everyone was able to make their own pizzas and then we all shared. After we were done, we had a vote to see who had the best pizza. It was a fun inexpensive night with friends. I buy my dough from a local Italian store. Hopefully there is one in your area. If not, try a local pizza place (not a chain) and just ask them if they sell the dough. Good luck and have fun!!

I love Boboli for a quick home made pizza. However, I very much LOVE me a home made crust. My mom makes her own sourdough crust...she's all crafty & has a jar of sourdough starter in the fridge at all time. For those of us that still work, I think that the stuff in the freezer section is still pretty great. I also agree w/the pizza stone - that thing rocks big time!

Thanks guys! There is an Italian deli near me that sells pasta dough and I bet they sell pizza dough too. Otherwise I think I've seen pizza dough in the refrigerated section of Trader Joe's now that you mention it. Christa your mom's crust sounds gooood, I love sourdough anything! I'll look into the pizza stone too :o)

Mmm...bbq chicken pizza sounds good. I'll add chicken and bbq sauce to my list of toppings. I'm trying to get somethig for everyone, from the basic pepperoni person to the more adventerous. There are a lot of toppings but it's easy to set them out and let people do their thing.

This is what I have planned so far:

homemade sauce

mozzerella

cheddar

goat cheese (DH hates the stuff, more for me!)

pecorino romano cheese

pepperoni

spicy italian sausage

linguica

prosciutto

clams (garlic & clam pizza and wine...omg)

mushrooms

roma tomatoes

artichoke hearts

basil

diced garlic

red onions

olives

pineapple

red pepper flakes

What am I missing?

I buy a cheap packet of dough mix. But only because we grill our pizzas--- we could slap some toppings on top of cardboard, throw it on the grill and BAM! Fabulous pizza!! :) Doesn't seem to matter what kind of crust we use when we grill it---- we devour the damn things like a couple potheads on a binge....

we use the pillsbury stuff from a can... i like the taste of it, but would def. buy from a pizza parlor if i was having a party.

i looove looove loooove goat cheese! yummy on pizza! what about ricotta cheese? i know lots of people who like white pizzas.

my favorite pizzas are anything with vegetables (peppers, mushrooms) and baked ziti pizza, which is fantastic, but two meals in one, and probably not so great for a party.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
