Las Caletas Brides ~ Post HERE! (THREAD CLOSED)

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies....we tipped Brad and Nicole. Kelly was with us the day of but that was the first time I met her so I did not tip Kelly. We actually did bring cash with us down to Mexico for all of the tips. We labeled envelopes and gave them to the best man to distribute so we did not have to worry about handing them out. He gave the first one to Nicole and she offered to distribute the rest so even our best man didn't have to worry about it.

I have a couple of teaser pics on license to Still which is Nate Cordova's blog. He is supposed to be posting more but you can see the lighting was amazing...Jamie...it should be perfect right after the ceremony for you!

Ladies - Maybe a silly question, but I still have to ask - when you say cash - did you tip USD or pesos? I like the idea of giving the tips to the best man, but I worry about bringing so much cash with me. Maybe my best bet will be to get pesos when we arrive and then give it to the best man at that time.

Jenn - We just booked Nate Cordova (our original photographer from Mpls. is now pregnant and cannot travel in Nov.) I'm curious about your review - but wow the teasers look great. I can't wait to see more photos of your day on his blog.

Britt - Hurry. Can't wait to see you photos!!

We just gave them USD...my reasoning for this was that with the conversion rate of 13pesos to 1USD, they would really get more bang for the buck with USD...you know what I mean? For us it didn't matter...actually was much easier to NOT have to hurry and exchange it when we got down there.

Jeni - your teasers are amazing!
Brittany - Hurry it up girl! I want to see those photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! smile78.gif

FYI girls ~ Nicole says the BDW starfish @ LC must be retired after me. It's on its last leg sad.gif

Also, after you, the starfish needs to be retired. It is breaking and very weak – I told Andi already and I was worried to take it into my hands in case something happened. Maybe someone else can bring one down as well – a new one ~ Nicole
We are starting to get our final details sorted out!

I still need to work on our song list for the DJ, set up seating arrangements, send her a pic of the centerpieces I like (fresh cut limes in a small vase with fuschia flowers set it in ), etc.

We are meeting Nicole @ the lighthouse in the Marina for drinks 1 week from Wednesday!! Holy cow, I can hardly believe it! I feel like we've totally bonded (mostly through emails though I did meet her in person a year ago), and it's like seeing a friend you haven't seen in, well, a year! haha! Can't wait to run and give her a smile03.gif lol

Uhhhm, what else? I guess that's all I can think of to add to the thread for now!

We did pay in USD same reason Andi did...the conversion rate is better but I think thye appreciate whatever you can give so whatever you feel more comfortable with. Todd & I brought money with us and kept it on us until we got to the hotel and kept it locked in the safe the entire time until the wedding. My parents also brought part of the money down too so we didn't travel with all of it. Again, it is totally up to you.

Having the best man take care of the tips was great! We gave him everything the day before the wedding so on the day of we did not have to worry about a thing. One less item on our plate.

As for Nate Cordova...he was an amazing photographer. He has so much energy and has such a great time shooting weddings. He lays in the sand, jumps up on counters runs and slides on one knee just to make sure he gets every photo. You can tell he has such a passion for photography. He arrived around 2pm and starting taking photos of Las Caletas, us getting our hair done and my flower girl (9 years old) loves to be in front of the camera so I think she hijaked him for about 30 minutes to take photos of her and tried to help him decide which photos to take. I have only seen the pictures that are on the blog but I can't wait to see the rest. Based on what I have seen so far and how much fun we had with him that night, I would highly recommend Nate!

One note though...Nate took a check for the deposit so when I showed up to Las Caletas, I brought my checkbook with me to pay him the rest. Apparently he does not have an account in Mexico so we had to meet up with him the next day to pay him in cash. Just prearrange whether he wants you to send a check to his US address for final payment before the wedding so hopefully it is that much less cash you have to bring or figure out other payment arrangements.

Oh man...that sucks about the starfish...but I will say though that it was VERY fragile...the pick that it was attached to was not very sturdy so when you pushed it into the flowers you had to do it VERY gently...Nicole was worried that it would break when I had it and was EXCITED to get it out of her hands that day...she didn't want to be the one to break it wink.gif....probably out of fear that us crazy BDW LC brides would come hunt her down! rofl.gif

Can I come meet for drinks too? blush2.gif hmmm I think I still have vacation time collected up at work, I think we are ready to go back now!....also it was funny, yesterday Reggie had a bad day at work and told me we were moving to PV! I thought "AWESOME! I am in!" smile29.gif He even started sending me listings from craigslist of places to rent on the beach rofl.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
