That's pretty gross. But I'm sure it's more to do with them not having proper plumbing. Ok I am really having gross thoughts now and I am making a rule that NO ONE is to use my bridal suite- especially if they even think about #2. I have such a weak stomach. I thought I was going to be a nice friendly bride that said...yah just kick back and relax with me. Not so sure now that I may have to see their used TP. shots.gif Slightly kidding.

I think.

Change of subject- has anyone received their video back from their wedding? I know Ann did the basic video package. Lindsay, Jamy did you do one as well? Was it good? Quality ok?

My video was decent and definitely worth having. Nicole told me they don't do the mid-level video anymore, so we got the one that was listed as most expensive - I haven't check the site lately so I'm not sure what's listed now.

It wasn't state of the art but it was cool and included the boat ride over with the guests, pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, some reception and the entire fire dancer show. We also had the video guy go to each guest individually and record their toast which was awesome to see later. This was a personal choice as we didn't do traditional toasts out loud to save time and boredom...lol.

We had 3 other guests videotaping on their own. This was cool because what the pro video guy didn't get we got anyway. It was mostly stuff like side conversations and things that most people wouldn't care to see but it was fun for us. The pro version is nice and succinct to show highlights for people who didn't go.

We didn't hire the videographer from Las Caletas - we had one of our guests graciously volunteer to record it for us and got a ton of footage! My amazingly talented husband put it together into a really cool video and incorporated photos from our photographer and music and everything - it is sooo cool, I really want to show you girls, but I am having trouble finding somewhere to put it up on the net!! I really want to show you all of my hubby's hard work - he did a fantastic job, and it was cheaper than hiring the videographers at LC (well, maybe not, we bought the video camera for that purpose - but we wanted to buy one anyway!)

PS: I promise I will let you all know when we get it up on a website to share it with you!

They used some of mine from the wedding and some of their own. I really liked the music they picked though, one of their songs was in French and it rocked!

I'm sure you can get more specific about what you want and they'll do it. The only thing I specified was to make sure and get each guest alone, but if you have song requests I'm sure they'll accomodate you.

Okay this whole petal vs. centerpiece thing is overkill, I know. However how many of you used or are going to use petals and how many will use floral centerpieces and is anyone using BOTH??

Starchild, I hear what you are saying about using real petals. Do you know approximately how many bags I would need to cover the aisle and then the tables with about 50 guests. How big are the bags?

We didn't pay for any centerpieces, only extra bags of petals. I believe Nicole suggested 2-3 bags of petals which would include some for the flower girl and some for the tables. I think we ordered 3 or 4. We only had 35 guests so maybe you would need 5 bags? Ask your WC but even at $125 it's still inexpensive.

Centerpieces are such a personal decision! Are you doing a site visit? If so, you may find that the location is the decoration, having nothing but plates & glasses would be stunning. I considered them, but in my case they would have been a waste of money. Sometimes less is more. BUT, keep in mind, our approach to the wedding was really laid back and more about marrying each other than decorating tables (we're simple romantic saps...lol). That's just us, if you have a vision of what you want by all means go for it!!!

Side note, packages include 2 centerpieces for free, and those were moved to the dinner tables after the ceremony. That's something to consider if you don't want to pay for 100's of dollars in centerpieces.

I know my pics never show up for you, but in case it works this time, you can see our setup with petals only. The vase with calla lillies & leaves wrapped in orange ribbon was taken from my guest book table as one of the included so I didn't pay extra for it. If you need me to email you pics let me know. Good luck!!

Marla-

You need to start watching some wedding shows on TV stat! lol.

I have loved these shows since I was like 12 (I love to watch how they decorate and I wanted to be a WC, but sadly, I'm not). You could always do centerpieces with a little bit of rose petals scattered at the bases. It's pretty.

They always seem to scatter a few rose petals around the base of the centerpiece with few tea candles like so.

Granted, I might add, the centerpieces are usually never this small. The weddings you normally see on TV are for the $500,000 range. I personally would like to start seeing a normal wedding so we could steal some ideas!

My FI is a Event Planner. They have a master book of all the centerpieces that they have used. I keep bugging him to steal it out of his office to bring it home so I can scan the pictures to post for you all. I don't know if he will because I don't know if he thinks it's right for me to post their ideas on the internet. I mean he would...he just doesn't want to get in trouble for it, so he's still thinking. Oh well...I'll keep bugging him.

The real ones are $25 bucks a bag! Yikes. I don't think I will use any then, if I can't use silk. I'd rather have some pillar candles on the table and a couple more centerpieces for that price. I'm not a very simple girl if you all can't tell.

My vision is to have tons of candles of different heights on the table with a couple of flower centerpieces for a splash of color. I was hoping to find some battery operated paper lanterns to hang above if even possible, but I haven't been able to talk to Nicole for 6 weeks so I'm not sure if I could even have those yet.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
