Hey girls. I have a question about lodging too actually. A bunch of my guests are staying at the new Dreams in Nuevo Vallarta but it's pricey for some other guests. What is a place that's like one step down? I want everyone to have a really nice, really luxurious trip but I don't want it to break their piggy banks -any suggestions?

Also, is it better/cheaper to get airfare with the room or separate? I have two agents telling me two totally different things and they're making my head spin. I'm so glad that I started planning so ridiculously early...

I've been doing quite a bit of searching online and it seems that it is always cheaper to book a package instead of booking air & hotel separately.

I am going down for a site visit in Feb. and am going to stay a few nights each at the Marival and the Riu Vallarta. Both are a bit less expensive than Dreams. We also want to have options for our guests, but want to make sure they are still getting a nice vacation. I'd be happy to report back on both of these Nuevo Vallarta AI resorts when I return.

Happy Holidays!

Hey ladies-

I visited Dreams in May and it was great and yes like someone else said it is a $5 cab ride to PV, which is nice. It feels like a boutique hotel in so many ways, though it is a resort. We noticed there were more young professionals rather than families so I wouldn't worry if you have a bunch that likes to party.

My guests are all staying at the Dreams because it was the best price. My wedding is in May and my TA got our rooms for $108pp a night. Which I feel is a steal for all-inclusive.

Cheers

that seems a bit on the high side, what hotel is that for?

It's for the Dreams in Nuevo Vallarta -the new one? I think it seems a bit pricey too. I've tried to explain to our agent that the lower the rates the more people we will have book but she can't seem to go any lower.

I live in Arkansas but am not really finding an agent that I like here. Is it a bad idea to go through an out of state agent?

maybe that one is so high because it is a new property? (that is my guess anyway)

I dont think it would be a bad idea to go with an out of state agent. have you tried to contact any of the BDW TA's? their names are all on the banner at the top of the page...

My Fiance and I stayed at the RIU Jalisco (next to the RIU Vallarta) in Jan 2007 and loved it...so I would think the Vallarta would be great since it is a newer resort. Also, we were living in Mpls at the time and found great airfare through Hobbit travel and then booked the hotel seperately. We got both the hotel and airfare at that time for 7 nights for $550...a steal in my mind! Good luck and can't wait to hear your thoughts of both the properties.

I'm checking out the RIU Vallarta and it looks gorgeous -and much cheaper. Thanks so much for the suggestion. Wow, I thought that I started planning too early for this wedding but now I feel like I'm up against a serious deadline. The many travel agents that I've talked to here in Arkansas don't seem to be willing to work very hard for a decent price and take weeks to respond. I tried to get in touch via email a couple of times with the BDW agents but didn't get an answer.

Ugh!

I'm excited though. The RIU Vallarta is the best news I've seen in awhile!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
