I don't see why not. We didn't hire a DJ, just made our own cd's for them to play. I don't know if it was the captain or another crew member, but someone got on the mic to announce the fire dancers and also did some dj stuff like play the music they thought the crowd wanted to hear (for free). It was fun and everyone liked it. Ask Nicole to be sure but I bet you can have whatever you want. That's the beaty of the place!

It was our cruise director from the boat that played the songs from our Ipod for the dance - he sort of took over, played some of our music and some of his music, and did the announcements for the dance/fire dancers/etc. We didn't hire a DJ either - we ended up giving him an extra tip at the end of the night b/c he did an awesome job - and we hadn't paid for a DJ...

Yay!!! That is awesome!smile159.gif

I was actually thinking that would still cost the DJ fee (around $500), but instead of bringing in someone that I dont know anything about, this one Cruise Director or whatever his title was, was really great!

Thanks, I will ask Nicole, and get back to everyone...Yari, you can change things for a while still, I think. Nicole told me she didnt even need to know my guest count until 30 days before!

Hey girls. I'm back. Whew! What a whirlwind.

I'll chime in about the DJ/MC.

For us, I gave my ipod to Nicole. She would occasionally run over and switch songs. Like for our first dance, she announced us and cued up the song and then we just the ipod randomly rotate through songs. Surprisingly, some of our people that I considered "dancers" didn't dance much. They all just hung out and talked. We had maybe like 6-7 staple dancers. I would occasionally run over and switch songs if we wanted something else. It really wasn't that big of a deal. There is a new cruise director and I never saw him anywhere other than the boat. I'm not sure if he does the "DJ" role anymore- at least he didn't for us. That wasn't a big deal for us though.

I will do a site review soon! I have so much to try to remember. The wedding was over a week ago and so much happened during the trip I'm trying to remember it all. All I can say was that I totally didn't worry about a thing- minor things went wrong, but the guests still left saying it was the most beautiful wedding they have been to. They probably didn't even notice the error.

Congrats Rachel! I can't wait to hear all the details and see your pictures! I still have 7 more months to wait!

I do have a question for you LC brides...could you tell me if there is a water taxi that will take you to LC? My fiance and his groomsmen want to come over before the boat but not for the whole day and we want to be able to bring the photographer over with them as we do not need him for the whole day as well! I emailed Nicole about this last week and still have not heard back from her as I am sure she is super busy! Would you know the price as well if they have one?

Thanks so much!

I know that sometimes vendors come and go in a smaller boat (not sure what it's called, maybe water taxi is a good word). I don't know if they'll let your guy come over it in though - but Nicole would be able to tell you that. But like, that's how my hair stylist got over - she came over around 2pm I think on a boat like that.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
